Maidenwell Marathon
- The second (and final) day of the 2nd annual Maidenwell Marathon will be held at Maidenwell today. As the name suggests, the Marathon is for runners and walkers and there will be 9 events over its two days, ranging from 2.2km to the very rare 56km distance. Whatever your fitness or competitive level - and no matter whether you're walking or running - the Marathon has a distance to suit everyone. Today there will also be fun family activities held at the Maidenwell Sports Grounds, and free camping is available on site too if you'd like to stay the full weekend. Timbertown Woodworkers Group - Blackbutt
- The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Seafood Sunday - Bunya Mountains
- If you're looking for something great to do this weekend, Lyrics Restaurant at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains - just behind the Bunya Mountains General Store - will be holding their monthly "Seafood Sunday" from 11:00am onwards today (lunch will be served from around noon). The fully-licensed restaurant will be offering a 100% fresh seafood a-la-carte menu, serving seafoods obtained from the coast yesterday - and be warned! The serving sizes are h-u-g-e. Bunya Mountains Markets
- The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will also be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas (as well as Seafood Sunday at Lyrics licensed restaurant - see entry above), and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park.
Power Station Power Cruise Car Show'n'Shine - Nanango
- The Nanango Sporting Association will be holding the second (and final) day of a bumper two-day Power Station Power Cruise Car Show & Shine at the Burnett Street sports grounds in Nanango from 10:00am to 1:00pm today. The event will feature lots of great cars along with live entertainment, stalls, raffles, food stands, prizes and trophies, and a special feature of this morning's event will be a free easter egg hunt for children. Trophy presentations will occur at 1:00pm. Entry in the Show & Shine is $15 per car; stalls are $25; and public entry is by gold coin donation, will all proceeds going to aid the Sporting Association to help them encourage local children into sport. Blackbutt Pony Express Easter Camp
- The Blackbutt Pony Express will be holding the third day of a 4-day Easter Camp at the Blackbutt Showgrounds today. The Camp is for ATHRA members only, and camping sites with hot showers and a horse stall are available for $8 per night. The feature event of the Camp will be a 30km ride to Taromeo Station, but there'll be other rides as well, and a $5 ride fee will apply to each one. More details? Easter At Cranes Winery
- Cranes Winery at Haydens Road in Booie will be open between 10:00am and 4:00pm today for Easter visitors who want to get away from it all, and locals who don't want to have to drive very far. In addition to their award-winning wines and notoriously good mixed platters, they'll also be offering Open Burgers (eye-fillet steak or Barkers Creek pork); Cajun Chicken Salads; Turkish Gozlemes; and cheese snack plates. Kilkivan Markets
- The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Yallakool Easter Markets
- Yallakool Park on Bjelke-Petersen Dam near Moffatdale will be hosting their popular annual Easter Markets from 7:30am to around noon this morning. The markets feature lots of arts and crafts, face painting for the children, food, drinks, music and coffee and always draw a really great turn-out. Maidenwell Bull Ride
- CANCELLED: The annual Maidenwell Bull Ride will be held in the grounds behind the Maidenwell Hotel today. More details will be published as they become available, or you can phone the Maidenwell Hotel in the meantime on (07) 4164-6133. Note: Due to wet weather, today's planned Bull Ride has been postponed to April 24.
South Burnett Orchid Society Meeting
- The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm onwards this aftenoon. The Society exists for orchid enthusiasts of all skill levels and meets on the last Sunday of every month except December. New members and visitors are always very welcome. More details? Maidenwell Markets
- If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Car Boot Sales And Market Stalls at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. These markets offer car boot sales plus a variety of market stalls selling various goods and wares including wood fired pizza, fruit and veg, plants, jams and pickles, cakes, bric-a-brac, books and second hand goodies, crafts and lots more (even face painting for children). Stallholder/Car boot fees are just $10 each, payable on day, and all proceeds go to the Maidenwell Community Group for the development of the township. Everyone is welcome! More details? Hivesville Country Markets
- The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 6:00am to around noon today. These family friendly monthly markets feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds.
