Wondai Country Markets
- The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular, getting-bigger-every-month Wondai Country Markets will be operating in Coronation Park in the Wondai CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today's markets will feature (amongst any other things) stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and the Wondai Kindergarten's BBQs firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts to early bargain hunters. Tanduringie SS P&C Annual Cent Sale
- The Tanduringie State School P&C's annual Cent Sale will be held at Maidenwell Hall in Maidenwell at 10:00am today (doors open at 8:00am) to raise funds to assist local families with school costs, as well as help the school purchase reading resources. Seafood Smorgasbord - Wondai
- Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street, Wondai will be holding another of their popular monthly all-you-can-eat Seafood Smorgasbords from 6:30pm this evening (dinner starts at 7:00pm sharpish). Trivia Night - Maidenwell
- If you can't make it along to the Tanduringie State School Cent Sale at Maidenwell Hall today (see entry further above) but still want to support the school, then get along to the Trivia Night that's being held at the Maidenwell Hotel this evening because it's a fundraiser for the school too. The first questions will be asked at 7:00pm and game play is for tables of eight - but if you can't muster eight friends, come along anyway and you'll be found a group to play with! Kingaroy Community Garden Open Day & Working Bee
- South Burnett Regional Council is holding an Open Day and Working Bee from 9:00am to 11:00am this morning to stimulate interest in the Pound Street Community Garden (behind the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy). There'll be information about how to become involved in the community garden, and seedlings available to take away and plant at home. As well, there'll be a Grow Eat Cook workshop which will include instructions on how to make Babaganoush (eggplant dip) and Tzatziki (cucumber and yoghurt dip). You should BYO chair, sun protection, water bottle, gardening gloves and closed in shoes if you'd like to take part. Saturday Afternoon Concert - Kumbia
- The Blackbutt Singers will be performing in concert at the Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia at 2:00pm this afternoon. The concert is a fundraiser for Kumbia's Centenary (which occurs next month) and will feature selections from the group's 20 years of performances. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for high school students and includes afternoon tea. Everyone is welcome and tickets will be available at the door.
South Burnett Rugby League
- The 10th Round of the South Burnett Premier League will be played at Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy this weekend. In Blackbutt, the undefeated A-grade Cherbourg Hornets will clash with the Blackbutt Timbertowners at the Blackbutt Sportsground, kicking off with U6s/U8s at 10:30am; U10s at 11:15am; U12s at 12:45pm; U16s at 1:55pm; and the A-Grade at 3:10pm. In Nanango, the Nanango Stags will take on the Murgon Mustangs at the Nanango Sports Ground off the D'Aguilar Highway south of town. The U6s/U8s will play at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; U12s at noon; U14s at 1:00pm; U16s at 2:00pm; and the A-grade match of the day at 3:00pm; and in Kingaroy, the Kingaroy Red Ants will defend their home turf (T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street) against the Wondai Wolves. The U6s will play on the training field at 11:00am, followed by the U8s at 11:40am. On the main field, the U10s will kick off at 11:00am; the U12s at noon; the U14s at 1:00pm; and the A-grade match from 3:15pm. In the U18s competition, Kingaroy will take on the Wallaroos at 2:00pm on TJ O'Neill's main oval prior to the A-Grade game (Murgon U18s are having a bye this week). Spectators and supporters are most welcome!
South Burnett Soccer
- The 9th round of the Evolution Solar Soccer League will be played out in Nanango and Kingaroy today. In Nanango, the 2nd division Nanango Panthers team will take on Barambah at the Nanango Soccer Grounds at 12:00 noon. This will be followed by the women's division where Nanango will clash with Barambah at 1:50pm; and then the 1st division match between the Nanango Panthers and Barambah at 3:00pm. Meanwhile in Kingaroy, 2nd division Wests will play the Gunners at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds at 1:45pm (note: the time of this game has been changed). This will be followed by a clash between Wests and the Gunettes in the women's division at 3:15pm, and then the first grade game between Wests and Gunners at 5:00pm. There won't be any junior matches this weekend, though, because of school holidays. Spectators and supporters are most welcome!

What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
- The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. South Burnett Rugby Union
- After playing most of this year's matches away from home, the South Burnett Thrashers will be returning to St Mary's Catholic College oval in Kingaroy at 1:30pm to take on Goondiwindi. The Thrashers have yet to win a game this season but today may be a turning point. Spectators and supporters are very welcome.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Retro Re-Load - Kingaroy
- The Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets in Kingaroy will be holding a Retro Re-Load night tonight, full of red-hot rockers and poppers served up by DJdirex.
