South Burnett Autism Support Group Trivia Night - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Autism Support Group will be holding their annual Trivia Night at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:45pm onwards this evening (the first questions get asked at 7:00pm sharp). Guests are encouraged to come in fancy dress (this year's theme is the Olympics). Come dressed as your favourite sporting star, or as a commentator, referee, mascot etc. As well as great prizes there'll also be a multi-draw raffle running throughout the night. Tables will be made up of groups of eight and while a light supper will be provided at half-time, you should BYO drinks and nibbles to keep you going throughout the rest of evening. Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
- The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Wild West Community Bush Dance - Wondai
- Here's something different! The Wondai Kindergarten will be holding a Wild West Community Bush Dance at the Wondai Town Hall in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight as a fundraiser. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best Wild West outfits to be in the running for prizes for the best-dressed couple and best-dressed boy and girl. There'll also be live entertainment, a really great supper, a raffle (with flight tickets as first prize) and a licensed bar operating all evening. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for concessions, $8 for young people and under-5s are free. You can also get a family pass (2 adults and 2 children) for $40. Tickets can be obtained in advance from Bunya Realty at 17 Scott Street in Wondai or by calling Jane on (0411) 118-510 - which will really help the Kindy plan the catering - but they'll also be available at the door tonight. Friendship Dance - Kingaroy
- The monthly Friendship Dance will be held at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy (opposite Super IGA) at 7:30pm this evening, with music supplied by Mark's Music. South Burnett Rugby League
- The 9th Round of the South Burnett Premier League will be played at Cherbourg, Nanango and Wondai this weekend. In Cherbourg, the undefeated A-grade Cherbourg Hornets will clash with the Kingaroy Red Ants at Jack O'Chin Oval in Cherbourg at 3:00pm this afternoon in what looks like being the match of the day between this season's leaders. In Nanango, the improving Stags will defend their home turf against the Blackbutt Timbertowners at the Nanango Sports Ground at 4:00pm in a last-ditch effort for both teams to secure a berth in the 2012 semi-finals; while in Wondai, the Wondai Wolves will take on the Murgon Mustangs at the Wondai Sports Grounds in the A-grade game at 3:00pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! PS: Cherbourg and Kingaroy U6s/8s will play at Cherbourg at 9:30am; U10s at 10:30am; U12s at 11:30am; U14s at 12:30pm; and U16s at 1:30pm. Wondai and Murgon juniors will follow a similar timetable at Wondai. Meanwhile, Nanango will play Central Burnett and Blackbutt in the junior matches at the Nanango Sports Ground. Murgon and Kingaroy U18s will be at Salter Oval in Bundaberg.
Monster Cent Sale - Yarraman
- The Yarraman Kindy will be holding a Monster Cent Sale today as a fundraiser. More details will be published as they become available, or you can phone Bronwyn in the meantime on (07) 4164-6134.
South Burnett Soccer
- After a mid-season break last weekend, the 8th round of the Evolution Solar Soccer League will be played out in Kingaroy and Murgon today. In Kingaroy, the 2nd division Nanango Panthers team will take on Wests at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street at 2:00pm. This will be followed by the women's division where Nanango will clash with Wests at 3:15pm; and then the 1st division match between the Nanango Panthers and Wests at 5:00pm. Meanwhile in Murgon, 2nd division Gunners will play Barambah at the Murgon Soccer Grounds at 2:00pm. This will be followed by a clash between the the Gunettes and Barambah in the women's division at 3:15pm, and then the first grade game between Gunners and Barambah at 5:00pm. This weekend's junior matches, meanwhile, will be played at the Nanango Soccer Grounds. Games will commence at 8:00am this morning for all junior divisions and continue on into the afternoon. This is the final week for juniors at this venue - after a break for school holidays, they'll be switching to Kingaroy when they return on July 14th. Spectators and supporters are most welcome!
Wayne Nettle - Kingaroy

Danny B - Kingaroy
- Popular Brisbane DJ Danny B (pictured at right) will be spinning the platters at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets in Kingaroy from 8:00pm until late tonight. Danny B has never been seen at the Commy before, and has been brought to the region by DJdirex. Admission is free if you get in by 10:00pm or $5 if you're late. Blue Care Annual Door-Knock - Kingaroy & Nanango
- The Blue Care Nursing Service will be holding their annual door-knock in Kingaroy and Nanango today to help raise funds for their South Burnett services. Blue Care is a not-for-profit organisation that assists older preople and people with disabilities, and all donations of $2 and above are tax-deductible. Blue Care will also have a fund-raising stall at today's Friendship Markets in Kingaroy (see entry further above).
Tarong Power Station Overhaul Finishes
- The scheduled overhaul of Unit 4 at Tarong Power Station will conclude today. The next scheduled overhaul begins October 5. The regular overhauls at Tarong not only ensure the power station runs at peak efficiency but also provide a boost to the local economy.
Stolzenberg Brothers - Wondai
- The evergreen Stolzenberg Brothers will be performing at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from6:30pm until late tonight. - The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together. South Burnett Home-Based Business Expo - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Home Based Business Group will be holding an Expo in the Kingaroy RSL's Tobruk Room off Short Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 4:00pm today. The Expo will showcase a variety of home-based businesses and there'll also be a variety of demonstrations, door prizes, live entertainment from Val Matthews and Bobby Ricks and a Cent Auction. $10 Hydrobaths - Nanango
- The Nanango Scouts will be offering $10 pet hydrobaths outside the Nanango Vet Surgery at 104 Drayton Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 1:00pm this morning as a fundraiser for the troop.
