South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Scrapbooking For Hope - Kingaroy
A "Scrapbooking For Hope" workshop will be held in the GB Hall at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today as a Relay For Life fundraiser. Zennia Powell from Caught The Big will be a special guest and Jane Tregenza from Seriously Scrapbooking will be demonstrating double page layouts. There'll also be giveaways and raffles. The cost of the workshop - which includes 4 hours of tutoring, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea - is $70 and payment is required at the time of booking. Kilkivan Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Sunday Rugby League - Kingaroy and Cherbourg
Rugby league fans will be spoiled for choice today, with games at T.J. O'Neil Oval in Youngman Steet, Kingaroy and Jack O'Chin Oval at Cherbourg. In Kingaroy, the U6s/U8s Red Ants will play a round robin against Wondai and Murgon at 9:00am, followed by the U10s (Red Ants v Wondai) at 10:30am and the U12s at 11:30am. Then at 12:30pm, South Burnett White will play Highfields in an U18s game, before the main A-grade match of the day at 2:00pm between the Red Ants and the Wondai Wolves. A bar and canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are most welcome. And in Cherbourg, Cherbourg's U6s and U8s will play Central Burnett at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; U12s at noon; U14s at 1:00pm; and U16s at 2:00pm. After this, the U14s Murgon and Wondai sides will battle it out at 3:00pm. A canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are very welcome here, too.
Sunday Social Bowls - Yarraman
The Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street, Yarraman will be hosting their regular Sunday social bowls games from 1:00pm this afternoon. Teams will be club selected and new players are very welcome! More details from the club: (07) 4163-8269.
Bush Picnic - Googa Googa Creek
Past students of Googa Googa Creek State School and anyone with an interest in the history of the Blackbutt-Benarkin area is invited to attend a Bush Picnic at the Googa Creek Cricket Grounds today. Providing you BYO chair or rug, $10 will buy you lunch, sweets, a cold drink, tea or coffee plus an afternoon of yarns and entertainment led by Wayne Browning. Googa Googa Creek State School operated from 1920 to 1950 and is now a vanished part of the South Burnett's early history. To reach it, you should turn onto the Crows Nest Road at the Radnor Hotel in Coulson Street, Blackbutt and follow the directional signs for about 12km. Timbertown Woodworkers Group - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. South Burnett Tabletop Gamers - Kingaroy
South Burnett Tabletop Gamers is a small but passionate tabletop games club servicing the South Burnett. Members' core interests usually cover a wide range of board, card and miniatures games, but the group is always on the lookout for new games to play. The main systems current members do play include Warhammer 40k/30k (Games Workshop), Mordheim, 9th Age, Batman Miniatures Game (Knight Models), Infinity (Corvus Belli), Star Wars X-Wing (Fantasy Flight), Magic the Gathering (Wizards), Pokemon TCG, Wrath of Kings (Cool Mini or Not) and a variety of other board games. The group meets at the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street, Kingaroy every second Sunday from 10:00am until around 4:00pm. More details? Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month, and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds.
