Funfest Casino Night - Nanango
The Heritage Nanango Funfest committee will be holding their 3rd annual Funfest Casino Night at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street from 7:00pm until late this evening as fundraiser for the Nanango New Years Eve Mardi Gras (game play starts at 8:00pm). Guests at this gala event will get to enjoy a really great night out. Professional croupiers from Brisvegas will be offering blackjack, roulette, Texas hold'em poker, craps and casino war on casino-standard tables (along with help if you don't know how to play any particular game). There'll also be great live entertainment throughout the evening from the South Burnett's very own Elvis, Jeff Hancox and a Showgirl, and the entry fee includes $1,000 in fun money, two drinks (there'll be a licensed bar operating if you want more), delicious finger food and unlimited tea and coffee. There'll also be a valuable Lucky Door Prize up for grabs. Tickets are $80 single or $160 per couple and can be obtained in advance from the Nanango Energy and Visitor Information Centre in Henry St, Nanango or by phoning Paula on 0400-474-968 or (07) 4171-0216. Country Fishing Classic - Bjelke-Petersen Dam
The sixth and final round of the Austackle Bluefin Country Fishing Classic will be held at Bjelke-Petersen Dam today and tomorrow. You can find out more details about it on the Country Fishing Classic website.
Mothers Day Cent Sale - Mondure
The Hivesville QCWA will be running their popular annual Mother's Day Cent Sale at the Mondure Hall in Main Street, Mondure from 1:00pm until around 3:00pm today (doors open at 12:30pm). And with Mother's Day coming up tomorrow, this could be a great chance to pick up a last-minute treasures for Mum. This year this event will have great prizes, a lucky door, and a raffle - it's a cent sale with a difference! Entry is $5.00 (which includes afternoon tea and a lucky door ticket) and extra sheets of tickets are inexpensive. 2016 Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The twelfth (and final) day of the annual Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy today. The focus will be on concluding the judging of music entries, and spectators are very welcome.
Dibley Live And Big Cats - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the final perfomance of their latest productions "Dibley Live - The Vicar Of Dibley" and "Big Cats" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (play begins at 7:30pm). "Dibley Live" - as might be expected - is a stage adaptation of one of the BBC's most popular TV comedies, and the audience can look forward to meeting many old friends including the dotty Verger Alice Tinker, glum Parish Council chairman David Horton, Hugo Horton, Owen Newitt and Frank Pickle, amongst others. "Big Cats", by contrast, is gentle story acted with warmth and tenderness that focuses on Lily, who has spent all her married life in the same two-up, two-down council house. Her husband Joe plays a very important role in her life, and the audience gradually realises just how important it is as the play unfolds. Tickets - which include supper at intermission - are $20 for adults and $15 for pensioners or students. They can be purchased in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango, or at the door before each performance, if not sold out.
Upper Yarraman Hall Annual Hot Tea and Cent Sale
The Upper Yarraman Hall Committee will be holding their popular annual Hot Tea and Cent Sale at the Hall from 6:30pm tonight. The evening - which is a fundraiser for the Queensland Cancer Council - offers guests a great range of delicious home cooked hot meals, along with some fantastic prizes at the cent auction. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 320 to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Art Gallery opposite the peanut silos in Haly Stret, Kingaroy will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 1:30pm this afternoon. This month's exhibition features a wide selection of artworks from Hivesville artist Shannus O'Sullivan (see example at right). The exhibition will feature many new works from this very popular artist, who's received more than 120 prizes and awards over his career for paintings now held in collections around Australia and in the USA, Asia, England and Germany. Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy

Kilkivan Campdraft
The first day of the weekend-long Kilkivan Campdraft will be held at the Kilkivan Showgrounds from 6:30am this morning, when activities will kick off with the Kilkivan Auto Centre Maiden (A) Draft, which will be followed by the Budget Steel Novice (A) Draft. These, in turn, will be followed by the BGA Goomeri Maiden (B) Draft and the Alan Hope Memorial Novice (B) Draft before the day winds down with the Sullivan Livestock Restricted Open. A full canteen will be running all weekend, and tonight there'll also be a bar, hot roast meals and live music, along with ACA SE Zone Presentations. Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Darren Grey and and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a big Lucky Door draw. Saturday Rugby League - Nanango and Kingaroy
Rugby league fans are spoiled for choice this weekend, with two A-grade games being played at Nanango and Kingaroy. In Nanango, Nanango's Stags will be playing the Wondai Wolves at Fred Kassulke Oval on the D'Aguilar Highway just south of town at 1:30pm. The Stags are still smarting after their 56-26 drubbing by Cherbourg's Hornets last week, while the Wolves will be chuffed about their recent victory over Eidsvold and hoping to make it two in a row. It promises to be an interesting match and since both teams appear to be well-matched, well worth watching. Meanwhile in Kingaroy, the Red Ants will be taking on the formidable Hornets at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street at 5:00pm in what also promises to be a very interesting game. The so far undefeated Hornets will be going into the match as favourites, but the Red Ants will be playing on their home ground and will be understandably keen to do as well as possible. The outcome? You'll just have to be there to see it. A bar and canteen will be operating at both venues and spectators are very welcome.
Saturday Soccer - Nanango and Kingaroy
After a week's break for the Labour Day long weekend, the sixth round of 2016's South Burnett Football League competition will be played at Kingaroy and Nanango today. In Nanango, Nanango's Panthers will play Gunners in 2nd Division at 12:30pm; Women's Division at 2:00pm; and 1st Division at 3:15pm at the Nanango Soccer Grounds in Burnett Street. And in Kingaroy, Wests will play Barambah in 2nd Division at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division at 5:00pm. A bar and canteen will be running at both venues and spectators and supporters are very welcome. Note: Junior soccer games will be played this morning at Wondai.
South Burnett Woodcrafters - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Woodcrafters will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at their clubhouse, which is located behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street from 8:00am to around mid-day today.
