Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2016 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting “From the Bay to the Bush” in the Main Gallery, featuring works by Anna Aird and Dianne Dumschat. The Front Gallery will host “Come What May” by the Wondai Art Group On Sundays, while the Rear Gallery will host a collection of paper tole craft works by the South Burnett's leading paper tole practitioner Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick. And works by students from Wooroolin State School will fill Kidz Korner this month. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Kingsley Grove Estate, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome to attend. More details? Phone the Gallery on (07) 4168-5926. Dibley Live And Big Cats - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the third perfomance of their latest productions "Dibley Live - The Vicar Of Dibley" and "Big Cats" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (play begins at 7:30pm). "Dibley Live" - as might be expected - is a stage adaptation of one of the BBC's most popular TV comedies, and the audience can look forward to meeting many old friends including the dotty Verger Alice Tinker, glum Parish Council chairman David Horton, Hugo Horton, Owen Newitt and Frank Pickle, amongst others. "Big Cats", by contrast, is gentle story acted with warmth and tenderness that focuses on Lily, who has spent all her married life in the same two-up, two-down council house. Her husband Joe plays a very important role in her life, and the audience gradually realises just how important it is as the play unfolds. Tickets - which include supper at intermission - are $20 for adults and $15 for pensioners or students. They can be purchased in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango, or at the door before each performance, if not sold out. Note: One final performance will be held at the same time and venue tomorrow night.
