Yarraman Kindy Annual Cent Auction
The Yarraman Kindy will be holding their annual Cent Auction at the Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street today as a fundraiser. Doors will open at 8:00am and the auction will get underway at 10:00am sharp. This year there are lots of great prizes up for grabs, including everything from holidays to hairspray - so come along (and bring your friends) for a relaxing and fun-filled morning. Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Saturday Afternoon Rugby Union - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team will be playing their fourth home game of the season at St Mary's Oval in John Street, Kingaroy (behind Kingaroy Hospital) at 1:30pm this afternoon. The Thrashers will be playing the Goondiwindi Emus in Round 10 of the 2013 Downs Rugby competition, and spectators and supporters are very welcome! More details? South Burnett Autism Support Group Trivia Night - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Autism Support Group will be holding their annual Trivia Night at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:45pm onwards this evening (the first questions get asked at 7:00pm sharp). Guests are encouraged to come in fancy dress (this year's theme is green). Come dressed as your favourite green animal or wear a green ensemble etc. As well as great prizes there'll also be a multi-draw raffle running throughout the night. Tables will be made up of groups of eight and while a light supper will be provided at half-time, you should BYO drinks and nibbles to keep you going throughout the rest of evening. Mosaics For Beginners Workshop - Nanango
The Winds Of Change Art Gallery in George Street, Nanango will be holding the first day of a weekend-long "Mosaics For Beginners" workshop from 10:00am to 1:00pm today (the workshop concludes at the same time and venue tomorrow). The Choristers - Wondai
The South Burnett Youth Choir will be presenting a special performance by The Choristers (ie the treble voices of Brisbane's St John's Catheral) at St Mary's Anglican Church at the corner of Bramston and Baynes Streets in Wondai at 3:00pm this afternoon. The boy choristers of St John's maintain a tradition of cathedral singing that stretches back to the Middle Ages, and today's concert is a rare chance to hear this style of singing in the South Burnett. Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy and Murgon
After a break last week for the Queen's Birthday holiday, the ninth round of the 2013 Evolution Solar South Burnett Football League will be held in Kingaroy and Murgon today. In Kingaroy, Wests will take on the Nanango Panthers at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street in what promise to be the matches of the day, with Wests out to improve their current rankings and Nanango equally keen to defend their top-of-the-table position. 2nd Division will face off at 2:00pm; Womens Division at 3:15pm; and 1st Division at 5:00pm. Meanwhile in Murgon, home team Barambah will play Gunners at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, with 2nd Division toeing the line at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:15pm and 1st Division at 5:00pm. Meanwhile, junior games will be held at the Wondai Sportsgrounds. Spectators and supporters are very welcome to all matches, and canteens will be operating at all venues too.
Saturday Rugby League - Cherbourg
The eighth round of the 2013 South Burnett Premier League competition will be held at Jack O'Chin Oval in Cherbourg today - and it'll be an A-Grade Double Header. In the first match of the day at 3:00pm, the impressive Cherbourg Hornets will take on the hard-working Blackbutt Timbertowners in a match that's sure to have the home crowd out and cheering; and they'll be followed in the second match by the equally mighty Wondai Wolves playing against the Nanango Stags in what should be another powerhouse game. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! Meanwhile - in the 10th round of the junior league competition - the U6s to U12s Stags will play Timbertowners at Fred Kassulke Oval in Nanango; the Hornets will play the Wolves at Cherbourg's Jack O'Chin Oval; and the Murgon Mustangs will be travelling to Mundubbera to play the Central Burnett Brumbies. In the U14s, the Hornets will play Kingaroy Red Ants White at Jack O'Chin Oval; the Stags will play Kingaroy Red Ants Red at Fred Kassulke Oval; and the Murgon Mustangs will play the Central Burnett Brumbies in Gayndah. Finally, in the U16s, the Hornets will play the Mustangs at Jack O'Chin Oval; and the Stags will play the Brumbies in Gayndah.
Garage Sale & Car Wash - Murgon
The New Horizons Church at 15292 Bunya Highway in Murgon will be holding a Garage Sale and Car Wash from 7:30am onwards this morning as a fundraiser for the church's local and overseas missions. There'll be biscuits, plants, cakes, books, clothes, jewellery, household items and bric-a-brc on offer, and everyone is welcome.
Masonic Lodge Installation Ceremony - Wondai
The Duke of Strathearn Masonic Lodge will be holding an Installation Ceremony at their Masonic Centre in Cadell Street, Wondai from 4:00pm to around 5:30pm today, followed by a dinner.
