- A special Community Dinner to thank everyone involved with the BlazeAid reconstruction project over the last will be held at St Joseph’s School Hall in Angel Avenue, Murgon from 6:30pm onwards tonight. Over the last four months since the Australia Day floods, BlazeAid volunteers have helped 88 farms in the area, clearing 133km of fencing and repairing or rebuilding a further 130km of fencing. Farmers and BlazeAid volunteers have been asked to attend, and all guests are asked to bring a covered dish for a communal smorgasbord meal. Entertainer Dean Perrett will be providing live music and everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Doreen on (07) 4168-1916 or (0417) 730-287.

This exhibition has been on display at Nimue for the last four weeks, but will be wrapping up today. Saturday Afternoon AFL - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Saints AFL team will be playing their fifth home game of the season when they come up against Highfields at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy at 2:30pm this afternoon for Round 10 of this year's Darling Downs AFL competition. Last week the Saints had a bit of a thriller in Chinchilla, narrowly beating the Chinchilla Suns by a single point, and they currently sit equal 8th on this year's competition ladder with Highfields. So both teams are certain to deliver some pretty high-powered action today in what should be a fairly evenly-balanced match as they both struggle to improve their current rankings. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! Note: Junior AFL games will be held during the morning.
Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
The first day of the 10th round of the 2013 Evolution Solar South Burnett Football League will be held at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy today (the second will be held tomorrow at the Murgon Showgrounds). Wests will take on Gunners today in what looks like being a very interesting triple of matches. In 1st division, both teams are currrently tied at the top of the table for 2nd position; but in the Womens Division, Wests currently have triple the points of the Gunnettes (ie 15 to 5); and in 2nd Division, the situation at the moment is reversed with Gunners leading Wests by a margin of 4 to 1 (13 to 3). So the outcome of any of these matches is far from a foregone conclusion, and there are certain to be ladder changes from each one. 2nd Division will face off at 1:30pm; Womens Division at 3:15pm; and 1st Division at 5:00pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome, and a canteen and BBQ will be operating too.

Saturday Rugby League - Blackbutt
The ninth round of the 2013 South Burnett Premier League competition will be held at the Blackbutt Sportsgrounds at the end of Railway Street, Blackbutt today - and it'll be an A-Grade Double Header. In the first match of the day, the top of the table Wondai Wolves will take on runners-up Cherbourg Hornets in the ongoing battle of these two teams for top-of-the-table supremacy. Both clubs have been delivering powerhouse perfomances all this season and are very evenly matched. So while the outcome is impossible to foresee, it should be a cracker game of footy. And after this, the Blackbutt Timbertowners will take on the Nanango Stags, with the home side understandably keen to improve their points tally on their own ground. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! Meanwhile - in the 11th round of the Junior League competition - the U6s to U12s Murgon Mustangs will play the Nanango Stags at the Murgon Showgrounds, while the Wondai Wolves will play the Kingaroy Red Ants at the Wondai Sportsgrounds and the Blackbutt Timbertowners will play the Central Burnett Brumbies. And in the U14s and U16s, the Nanango Stags will play the Kingarioy Red Ants at Nanango's Fred Kassulke Oval, while the Murgon Mustangs will play the Central Burnett Brumbies in Gayndah.
