V8 Tractor Pull - Kingaroy
Calling all revheads! The Kingaroy and District Vintage Machinery Club will be holding a weekend-long V8 Tractor Pull at their grounds at the rear of Kingaroy Airport today and tomorrow as a fundraiser. The event will feature - amongst many other things - specially modified V8-powered mini tractors from Victoria. These tractors - rated up to an amazing 1500hp - will be pulling weight-transfer sleds over a 100m course to see which can go the furthest. There’ll also be custom-built tractors, antique tractors, hot rods and a truck show, as well as a visit by the famous Bandag Bullet (the fastest truck in the world), plus market stalls, food stalls, the Lions barbecue and a licensed bar. The action gets underway at 9:00am and will wrap up at around 7:00pm. Admission is $15 and under-15s can get in for free. There'll also be a $5 a ticket raffle for a ride in the Bandag Bullet - and you can read more about all of this (and see a video) on our website

Saturday Rugby League - Nanango
The 10th round of the 2013 South Burnett Premier League competition will be held at Fred Kassulke Oval on the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango's CBD today - and it'll be an A-Grade Double Header. In the first match of the day, the Wondai Wolves will take on the Blackbutt Timbertowners at 1:00pm in what could be a very interesting match. After a powerhouse start to the season, the Wolves appear to have come off the boil a little bit in the last few weeks, while the Timbertowners have been steadily picking up the pace. And in the second match at 3:00pm, the Nanango Stags will take on the top-of-the-table Cherbourg Hornets (who just seem to get better week after week) in a match that will probably be a major upset if the home team win and a walkover if they don't. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! Note: Because of the school holidays there won't be any junior rugby league matches played this week.
