South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
5th Annual Kingaroy Swap Meet
The Kingaroy and District Machinery Club will be holding its Fifth Annual Swap Meet at the club's grounds in Geoff Raph Drive near Kingaroy Airport from 6:00am this morning through until around 2:00pm this afternoon. Stall sites (10m x 6m) are just $10 with set-up on Friday, and overnight camping is available for $10 per site for stallholders who want to stay over. There'll also be food and drinks available on Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and again today from 5:00am to 1:00pm. Admission today is just $5 per head (U16s are free) with COVID check-in at the gate, and if it's anything like the club's previous Swap Meets, expect big crowds. South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The South Burnett Speedway will roar back into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy tonight with its second meeting of the season - the Spring Spectacular - that will feature Modified Sedans, Production Sedans, Street Stocks, Junior Sedans and Wingless Sprints. There'll also be canteen facilities operating onsite. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 5:00pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $65 for a family of two adults and up to three students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome! Note: This event is being run under COVID Safe conditions so some restrictions will apply. Note: This meeting was cancelled on November 11 after heavy rain made the track unsafe for racing. The next meeting will be on December 18.
Bush Vaccination Bus - Proston
Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN will be bringing its Bush Vax bus to Blake Street in Proston (opposite the library) from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning to offer free Pfizer vaccinations to residents who want to avoid the worst of the Delta COVID outbreak expected to sweep across Queensland when the borders come down in mid-December. Pig Out Night - Yarraman
The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be hosting a Pig Out Night from 5:00pm to 7:00pm this evening, followed by a DJ from 7:30pm until late. For just $20 per head for adults (or $15 for children aged 12-16) guests can tuck into roast pork or chicken along with roast vegies, gravy, applesauce and dessert. Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. La Creme Dance Academy End Of Year Concert - Kingaroy
The La Creme Dance Academy will be hosting their End Of Year Concert at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at the northern end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. There'll be two performances - a matinee at 10:00am and an evening show at 5:00pm - and students from all the dance school's grades will be giving performances, many themed on the animated classic "Shrek", in a spectacular show. Tickets to the concert are $18 per head (under 3s are free) and they can be booked online.
Murgon Men's Shed Annual Garage Sale
The Murgon Men's Shed in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding their annual Garage Sale from 6:30am this morning. Everyone is welcome!
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Weekend Vax Clinics - Nanango, Kingaroy & Murgon
Darling Downs Hospital & Health Service will be running free Pfizer vaccination clinics at Nanango State High School in Cairns Street, Nanango; Kingaroy State High School in Markwell Street, Kingaroy; and Murgon State High School in Gore Street, Murgon from 8:00am to 3:30pm today (9:00am to 2:00pm at Kingaroy). Walk-ins are welcome - just bring along your Medicare card. Note: The clinics will also run at the same locations in Murgon and Nanango - but not Kingaroy - tomorrow between 8:00am and 2:00pm.
Proston Parkrun
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Zone 8 Pony Clubs Masters Championships - Nanango
The second (and final) day of the two-day South Burnett Pony Clubs Zone 8 Masters Championships will be held at Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango today. Spectators are very welcome.
Kumbia Community Markets
The new-look Kumbia Community Markets will be running at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around noon this morning (set-up from 6:00am). SB Kids Art - Wondai
SB Kids Art will be running a "Working with Watercolours - Cat in the Window" art class at The Studio next to the Wondai Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Wondai from 10:00am to 11:30am this morning. For $20 (to cover materials), children can learn to work with watercolours using different techniques and brushes, then use watercolour paper to create a silhouette of a cat in a window. Bunya Mountains Dinner Under The Stars
SOLD OUT: The inaugural Bunya Mountains Dinner Under The Stars will be held at the Dandabah Day Use Area in the Bunya Mountains National Park from 5:30pm onwards this evening. For $85 per head, guests can enjoy a delicious three course dinner, music by the South Burnett Community Orchestra strings ensemble, a Welcome To Country, guest speaker and an auction. The dinner has been organised by the Bunya Mountains Community Association as a fundraiser for a planned Bunya Mountains Community Centre and it is jointly sponsored by the South Burnett and Western Downs Regional Councils, Stanwell and Meandu Mine. Most tickets were pre-sold, but you can secure any that remain by messaging BMCA on their Facebook page. Note: All tickets for this event were sold out on November 10.
Saturday Cricket - Nanango, Kingaroy and Murgon
There's another big Saturday of cricket today with Gympie A-Grade, South Burnett Seniors and South Burnett Juniors matches all in action. In Round 10 of the Gympie A-Grade Competition, Murgon Crusaders will play Harlequins at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon, while the Wooroolin Warriors will play the Gympie Royals at Kozminsky Oval in Gympie (both matches start at noon). And in the sixth round of the South Burnett Seniors competition, Wooroolin Colts will play Murgon at the Murgon Sportsgrounds; Kingaroy Services will play Wondai at Taabinga State School; and Wooroolin Vikings will play Nanango at Kingaroy's Lyle Vidler Oval (all at 12:30pm) while Cherbourg has the bye. Finally, in Juniors, Kingaroy Pineview Brangus will play Kingaroy Westlink at Kingaroy State School, and Kingaroy Wamuran Timbers will play Nanango at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, Nanango in the Stage 2 competition; and in Stage 3, Nanango Mixed will play Kingaroy Mixed at Taabinga State School (all junior matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are very welcome at all games.
Saturday Golf - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Golf Club at 51 Langton Road in Blackbutt will be holding its 29th annual Sponsors Day from 9:00am this morning. Play will take the form of a 4-person ambrose for golfers and non-golfers over 18 holes for an incredible range of prizes.
