South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Sprints
The second (and final) day of the inaugural, weekend-long Wondai Sprints sprint car races will be held at the Wondai Industrial Estate off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai's CBD today. Race time trials will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm today, and there'll also be a Show and Shine held on the sports oval adjacent to the racetrack, with judging take place between 9:00am and 12:30pm and trophy presentations at 1:00pm. A hundred entrants have nominated for the Sprints in classes including historic, touring cars, sports sedans, racing cars and special interest, and food and drink will be available in the grounds. A one-day pass for spectators is $15, but under 14s are free. You can read more about the Wondai Sprints on our website.
Sunday Social Bowls - Yarraman
The Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street, Yarraman will be hosting their regular Sunday social bowls games from 1:00pm this afternoon. Teams will be club selected and new players are very welcome! More details from the club: (07) 4163-8269.
Central Division Carnival - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Rugby League Football Club will be hosting the second day of a two-day Central Division Carnival at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today. The Carnival is a new one for the Division (which encompasses four regions), and participants will be competing for selection in a Central Division team that will go on to compete at a State Carnival. The Red Ants will be hosting U13, U14 and U16 boys as well as U14 and U16 girls rep teams from all across Central Division this weekend. And with 500 players plus staff, parents, friends and supporters taking part, thousands of visitors are expected to attend during the course of the weekend.
Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Open Mic Afternoon At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel at 77 Drayton Street in Nanango will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session from 2:00pm to around 6:30pm this afternoon, hosted by Mr Q. Anyone is welcome to put their name up on the blackboard and - when their turn comes - perform up to 25 minutes of originals or covers. All PAs, guitars and drums will be provided by Mr Q and there'll be food on hand if you get peckish. Everyone is welcome along for a great afternoon of live music and family fun! More details? The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Rock & Roll Dance Lessons - Nanango
Rock & Roll Dance Lessons will be held at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 1:00pm to 3:00pm this afternoon. The cost for a 2-hour lesson is $10 and beginners are very welcome. Classes are being held fortnightly in preparation for this year's Waterhole Rocks rock & roll festival on October 14-16, and you can read more about them (and see videos) on our website.
Timbertown Woodworkers Group - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. South Burnett Tabletop Gamers - Kingaroy
South Burnett Tabletop Gamers is a small but passionate tabletop games club servicing the South Burnett. Members' core interests usually cover a wide range of board, card and miniatures games, but the group is always on the lookout for new games to play. The main systems current members do play include Warhammer 40k/30k (Games Workshop), Mordheim, 9th Age, Batman Miniatures Game (Knight Models), Infinity (Corvus Belli), Star Wars X-Wing (Fantasy Flight), Magic the Gathering (Wizards), Pokemon TCG, Wrath of Kings (Cool Mini or Not) and a variety of other board games. The group meets at the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street, Kingaroy every second Sunday from 10:00am until around 4:00pm. More details?
