South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
QCWA Nighttime Country Kitchens - Kingaroy
The first workshop for the new night-time QCWA Country Kitchens will be held at the Kingaroy QCWA Hall in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy at 5:30pm this evening (the workshop starts at 6:00pm and runs until 8:00pm). This new program from the QCWA teaches participants how to cook healthy foods in a fun environment, and also provides qualified food and nutrition advice along the way. There are five monthly workshops in the full $50 course, and all participants receive a shopping bag, apron, tea-towel and nutrition information along with a cooked meal at the end of each workshop they can either eat for dinner or take home with them. Anyone is welcome to take the course, and you can get more information and/or book a place by phoning Janelle on 0419-861-616 or by emailing her. You can also read more about this program on our website. Note: The QCWA's daytime version of Country Kitchens was booked out soon after it launched in early May. This new night-time series is for people who couldn't get away during the day to take the workshops, but covers the same ground.
Margaret Westerman Morning Tea - Proston
A special morning tea will be held at the Proston Library in Blake Street, Proston at 10:00am this morning to farewell librarian Margaret Westerman, who'll be retiring on June 24 after 17 years of service to the library and the Proston community. Anyone who'd like to bid farewell to Margaret is very welcome, but for seating and catering purposes an RSVP by May 31 to (07) 4168-9103 would be greatly appreciated.
Kumbia QCWA Craft Group
The Kumbia QCWA Craft Group will be holding their regular 2nd Wednesday of the month meeting at the Kumbia QCWA Rooms in Bell Street today, kicking off with morning tea at 9:30am. The Kingaroy Girl Guides Troop will be meeting at the Guides Hut in Mant Street, Kingaroy this afternoon. U9s will meet from 4:00pm to 5:30pm, and seniors (ages 10-18) from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Nanango Country Quilters & Crafts Group
The Nanango Country Quilters And Crafts group meet every Wednesday at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango between 9:00am to 2:00pm. Members can get to pursue a wide variety of crafts at these informal gatherings and the $3 meeting fee includes morning tea (but BYO cup and lunch). There's also usually a raffle as well. Indoor Bowls & Cards Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Senior Citizens Club will be hosting indoor bowls and cards (500) competitions at its centre on the corner of Avoca and Kingaroy Streets, Kingaroy between 9:00am and 4:00pm today. Wednesday Morning Bridge - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bridge Club will be holding their regular Wednesday morning bridge games at the pavilion nearest to town inside the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 9:00am to 1:00pm today. Seniors Having A Ball - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a "Seniors Having A Ball" exercise class from 8:30am to 9:30am this morning. The program is designed to address the issues that many have with ageing and it's not just for seniors! It provides light exercise to keep the heart and joints moving, improving coordination and mobility. It also provides a beginner platform to start any fitness activity on. As well as physical fitness, it also has a fun social atmosphere too. The class fee is just $4 for PCYC members or $7 for non-members. More details? Man Cave - Kingaroy
The Sister Dolores Carroll Training Centre at St Mary's Catholic College at 10 Kent Street in Kingaroy will be transforming into a "Man's Cave" between 6:30pm and 10:00pm tonight. Qualified instructors will be demonstrating the use of all the equipment in the centre - great stuff like lathes, drills etc - and if you're a man interested in restoring or manufacturing wood or metal products and socialising with other men who have similar interests, then this could be the place for you! Wondai Senior Citizens Club Meeting
The Wondai Senior Citizens Club will be holding their second Wednesday of the month meeting at the Wondai Diggers Club at 87 Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 1:00pm this afternoon. The $2 meeting fee includes afternoon tea, a singalong, card games, bingo and beatles with small prizes, and membership is only $5 a year. The club also organises occasional bus trips. Wednesday Night Touch Footy - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Touch Football Association will be holding their regular Wednesday night touch footy competition at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (ie Red Ants Oval) this evening. Women's teams will play from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, and men's teams from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Playing fees are $2 and spectators are very welcome!
