Three specialty cattle sales held in the South Burnett last week for Charolais and Limousins produced strong returns for sellers, despite a wetter-than-usual year affecting much of the region.

The three top bulls in the sales fetched prices between $27,000 and $29,000, with many others selling in the $11,000 to $12,000 range.

The first sale – 10th Annual Coolabunia Classic Charolais Bull Sale – was held at Coolabunia’s Saleyards last Thursday.

Sixty-one bulls from four studs were put up for auction.

The top selling bull – Charnelle Skipper (790kg, 20 months old) – sold for $29,000.

Other bulls sold for an average of $11,032 each.

The auction attracted 65 bidders from local areas and some from as far away as southern NSW, with many more watching and bidding online through Elite Livestock Auctions.

The sale was conducted by Aussie Land and Livestock, with Midge Thompson and Corey Evans sharing auctioneer duties.
