Good local rainfall reduced numbers to just over 500 at the latest Murgon fortnightly cattle sale on Tuesday.

Export values eased slightly, but the rest of the market was very strong.

Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Biggenden, Yarraman, Kingaroy, Kilkivan and the Murgon area.

Sale results:

  • Bulls sold to $3.10/kg and $2526
  • Bullocks sold to $3.50/kg and $1910
  • Heavy Cows over 500kg topped at $2.85/kg and $1660, averaging $2.72/kg
  • Cows 400-500kg also sold to $2.85/kg for a $2.60 average
  • Lighter Cows under 400kg topped at $2.50
  • Export heifers sold to $3.26/kg and $1418
  • 2 pens of Droughtmaster steers from Tansey sold for $3.95/kg to return $1685 and $1570 at 426 and 397 kg, respectively
  • Local Droughtmaster steers weighing 423kg sold for $3.91/kg and $1656
  • 366kg Brahman steers from Windera sold for $4.00/kg and $1466
  • 328kg Brangus steers from Merlwood sold to $3.69/kg to return $1213
  • Charbray steers from Tansey weighing 290kg sold for $4.11 and $1192
  • 2 pens of Charbray weaner steers from Gin Gin sold for $4.13/kg to return $1059 and $921
  • Droughtmaster weaner steers from Tansey sold for $822 at $3.84/kg
  • 320kg Charbray heifers sold for $1152 at $3.60/kg
  • 330kg Brangus heifers sold for $3.40 to return $1122
  • 219kg Charbray weaner heifers sold to $3.62/kg for $795
  • Charolais cross weaner heifers from Memerambi sold to $1074 at $3.60/kg
  • Aged Charbray cows and calves sold to $1000
