A woman who stopped to help the victims of a road crash has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after she was struck by another vehicle at the scene.

The incident occurred at Tent Hill, east of Toowoomba. on Monday afternoon.

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was despatched to the crash just after 3:20pm.

The injured woman told the LifeFlight crew she had been passenger in a vehicle which pulled over to help after she and the driver witnessed a crash.

While she was standing on the side of the road another vehicle, which hadn’t previously been involved, struck her.

LifeFlight’s critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic helped stabilise the woman, aged in her 20s, before she was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with leg injuries.

Another patient was transported by road ambulance in a stable condition to Toowoomba Hospital.
