Kingaroy Police have seized a vehicle for mechanical inspection after an incident in the car park at SupaIGA in Avoca Street on Sunday morning in which a woman and a child narrowly escaped serious injury.

A Mazda SUV driven by an 81-year-old Booie man hit the rear of a parked Toyota Prado before bouncing off and crashing into a parked Mitsubishi which had a child inside.

The force of the second impact lifted the Mitsubishi off its rear wheels, pushing it into a Toyota Surf 4WD parked next to it.

The Toyota was then pushed sideways into a parked Commodore.

Amy Nichol said she was standing at the back of her vehicle putting her shopping inside when the crash occurred.

Her 10-year-old son was sitting inside the car.

“I looked up and the other car was flying towards me,” she said.

“I stepped back and watched it smash into my car.

“It was very scary, knowing my son was in there.”

Emergency services were called to the incident about 10:30am.

Paramedics checked the 10-year-old boy at the scene.

A 77-year-old Booie woman, who was a passenger in the Mazda, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital for assessment.

Investigations are continuing.
