Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant David Tierney with Muffin Break employee Viv Jackson … the staff members were kept extra busy serving up coffees and muffins

December 12, 2018

“Coffee With A Cop” will become a regular event in Kingaroy following the success of the inaugural event on Wednesday morning.

A string of local residents, including a couple of former police officers, took the opportunity to take a short break at Kingaroy Shoppingworld and swap ideas with a Kingaroy police officer.

The event led to a genuine buzz around Muffin Break, the first hosts for the event, and it had nothing to do with the caffeine …

People were stopping and talking in little groups, as well as enjoying coffee and muffins at the tables inside.

Senior Constable Samantha Giles and Senior Constable Rob Firman did the most of the sipping and chatting as Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant David Tierney was called away to speak at the South Burnett Regional Council meeting.

However, he said he was very pleased with the reaction to this first event.

“We’ll be looking at doing it every two months in the New Year, and share it around different businesses,” he said.
