Keith Hatchett, from Murgon, with his fully restored 1926 Rugby

There was a bigger crowd than usual at the Murgon Men’s Shed on Saturday … another group of “shed men” dropped in for a visit.

The Barambah Shed Men held their 39th quarterly meeting at the Murgon venue and brought along some special vehicles for everyone to admire.

Kaith Hatchett, from Murgon, had his 1926 Rugby which he has owned since 1972.

“I found it in an open paddock under a pepperina tree on the other side of Kingaroy,” he said.

He slowly began restoring it but had to get a move on in 1988 when his daughter asked for it to be used at her wedding …

Spike Butler, from Hivesville, brought along his T-bucket hotrod.

The vehicle, built from a kit, has a 302 Ford Cleveland motor and C4 transmission and has had about $40,000 spent on it over the years.

The T-bucket has even doubled as Santa’s sleigh in Hivesville on occasion …

Kev Fry, from Kinleymore, had his Litre Sprint car on display.

Kev is a former speedway racer and still likes to take the Sprint car out for runs on dirt tracks.

He is a member of the Classic Speedway Club Of Queensland and runs the Sprint car at Gatton.

Other cars that Kev has raced include a Mk III Ford Zephyr and a Torana built to XU1 specifications.

Guest speaker for the afternoon was youth worker, former missionary, school chaplain and CROW-FM Sunday morning announcer Cam Rub.
