The 2016 South Burnett Careers Market attracted more than 500 students from local high schools to TAFE South West’s Kingaroy campus on Thursday.

The annual showcase proved yet again that South Burnett students have a smorgasbord of career choices to strive for when they leave high school … from apprenticeships and traineeships to TAFE Certificates and Diplomas, and university degrees.

Students visiting the displays included senior students from St Mary’s Catholic College, Kingaroy; Nanango, Kingaroy and Murgon State High Schools; Proston P-10 and Burnett State College, Gayndah.

They had the opportunity to have “hands on” experiences at displays from TAFE  as well as chat to representatives from major local employers including South Burnett CTC, Peanut Company of Australia, Downer Group and UGL.

Defence Jobs  had representatives from the Air Force, Navy and Army to speak to potential recruits, and the Queensland Police Service also mounted a big display, complete with police dog “Waco”.
