Toowoomba councillors have approved a new four-year schedule for its Core Community Support Program.
TRC has committed $221,033 to support 68 community groups, community halls, organisations or historical societies for the 2025-26 financial year.
For the remaining three years of schedule, Council has set a total budget of $654,372.
Unlike the competitive TRC’s Grants Program, organisations included in the Core Community Support Program schedule are not required to make an application to receive funding.
However, they must comply with conditions outlined in the funding agreement.
The Core Community Support Program Schedule was previously reviewed biannually; however Tuesday’s decision means the schedule will now be reviewed every four years.
“This program provides community groups a level of certainty regarding funding, which can help them plan for the future,” Cr James O’Shea said.
The groups named in the new annual schedule until 2028-29 include:
- Cooyar Agricultural Society Inc – $5000 a year for financial support of the Cooyar Show
- Cooyar Memorial Hall (TRC-owned hall, operated by Cooyar Agricultural Society) – $1745.24 a year for insurance
- Yarraman Memorial Hall Society Inc (TRC-owned hall) – $1745.24 a year for insurance
- Yarraman & District Historical Society Inc – $ 1745.24 a year for insurance
