Kingaroy Rotary Club is making life a little bit safer by presenting five defibrillators to organisations located at strategic sites around Kingaroy.

Club president Val Hooper presented a $1300 debrillator to the Kingaroy Red Ants rugby league club in Kingaroy on Thursday.

The device will be mounted outside the Ant Hill clubroom so that it will be available to all sports that use the TJ O’Neill Oval.

Kingaroy Red Ants president Mick Dugdell said keys would be placed at the Kingaroy Cricket Club and the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club.

The defibrillator is “idiot-proof” as it talks the user through the procedure but a Rotary Club member is also available to provide training if requested.

All First Aid Officers at the Red Ants have completed defibrillator training.

“We hope it’s never used,” Mick said.

Kingaroy Rotary will also donate defibrillators to be placed at the Kingaroy RSL Club, Kingaroy Shoppingworld, SBCare and possibly another sporting club.
