More than 40 women from all over south-east Queensland packed the Kingaroy QCWA Hall over the weekend.

They were taking part in the QCWA’s Gympie-South Burnett Division Handcraft and Cultural Committee’s first handcraft school for the year.

Apart from locals, some visitors came from as far as the Gold Coast, Gympie and Nambour.

There were five different craft classes to choose from: candlwicking, stained glass patchwork, beading, knitting and pattern reading, and naïve embroidery.

There was also a raffle and a number of lucky draws on both days.

Many new friendships were formed during the course of the weekend, and at the workshop’s conclusion there were some lovely pieces of work to take home, too.

The ladies are now looking forward to the next weekend on November 26-27, when another five crafts will be offered.
