Representatives from 11 community groups and the Heritage Nanango Community Branch received some special training at the weekend that could well one day save a life.

The Community Branch presented defibrillators to the community groups in August as part of their latest round of community grants.

And although the units, purchased through the St John Ambulance, come with complete instructions the Community Branch thought some extra training might also come in handy.

So on Saturday, representatives from each group gathered at the Nanango Golf Club to be put through their paces by St John Ambulance trainer Alan Crouther.

“The machines are amazing,” Heritage Nanango Community Funding chairman Wendy Zerbst said.

“I was astonished how easy they are to use. It is self-explanatory.”

Defibrillators were presented to the Barambah Bowhunters and Field Archers, Bullcamp Rural Fire Brigade, Maidenwell Rural Fire Brigade, Nanango Show Society, Nanango Bowls Club, Nanango & District Aeromodellers, Nanango & District Netball Association, Nanango Community Men’s Shed, Nanango Golf Club, South Burnett Gas Guzzlers and South Burnett Western Performance Club.

A unit has also been placed at the Heritage Nanango Branch.
