Strong, blustery winds over the past few days have really sorted out the players from the stayers, and the forecast is that this will continue over the weekend.
At midday yesterday the wind in Kingaroy was averaging around 30 kph with gusts up to 40 kph.
And with a temperature of around 14 degrees, there was a chill factor of around 12.5.
It’s hard to get a good bowling action going when you are all rugged up, so it will be interesting to see the scoreboard when the results come in for this week’s Scroungers at Nanango and Yarraman.
I would also like to apologise to regular readers for missing last week’s column. I was unwell, but am happy to report I’m now back to normal.
Anyway, Kilcoy leads this week’s bulletin:

In the Championship A Grade Singles, the question on everyone’s mind was this: was it going to be always the bridesmaid never the bride for four time runner up Jim Fowler over Lew Saunders, who only commenced bowling after Jim began his runner’s up spree.
After 8 ends, Lew held a lead of 13-1, and after the 18th end we saw Lew hold on to his lead 22-10 before finally running away with the game, winning 25-16.
May be a case of always the bridesmaid, Jim!

Yarraman
Championship matches are getting along nicely at Yarraman Bowls Club.
A quarter final of the Mixed Triples was played yesterday, and it saw Lorri Holmes, Kerry Knowles and Billy Homes defeat Di Currell, Neil Currell and Robbie Douglass 27-8.
It was a bit of a one-sided game. Holmes was away early, and it took until the fourth end before Douglass scored to make it 6-2.
But it was all Holmes after that: 13-3 at 8 ends; 16-8 at 13 ends; and 27-8 at the finish.
The Holmes team will now meet Brian Dugdell’s team in the semi-final.
