Kingaroy Lions Club has reached a milestone in its collection of prescription glasses for recycling.

Lions Marj and Ralph Argue have collected and sent off more than 2000 pairs of glasses since they took on the task about 18 months ago.

The glasses go to a central collection depot in Australia where they are tested and labelled by optical technicians .

They are then sent to countries where many people cannot afford prescription glasses.  Optometrists then match the glasses free of charge, to the people who need them.

If anyone has unused prescription glasses they can drop them off at our local collection points Lonsdale’s Pharmacy Essentials, Blooms Pharmacy, Fitzpatrick Optometrists and Lee See Optometrist.
