Mark Huston, from Huston Nissan, and South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann … tickets in the car raffle are still available

May 1, 2013

The Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal has now raised more than $60,000 for farmers affected by the Australia Day floods … and donations are still coming in.

The appeal will run until May 31.

“We are very pleased to announce that the community has donated over $60,000. Our fundraising has certainly not finished and we welcome any offer of assistance,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.

“We will continue to raise funds through until the end of May and I’d encourage anyone who can spare some change to drop it into the donation buckets placed in businesses throughout the South Burnett.

“The small change donated by our residents adds up and can make a difference to the farmers who are still finding their feet after the events of earlier this year.”

Donations can also be made at South Burnett Regional Council Customer Service Centres.

Huston Motors Kingaroy donated a Nissan Micra to raffle for the appeal. Tickets are on sale at all South Burnett Regional Council Customer Service Centres.

“We have had a great response in ticket sales for the car,” Mayor Kratzmann said.

“Over the next few weeks there will be additional opportunities to buy some of the last tickets to win the car.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have volunteered to sell tickets and help us raise money for our farmers. The time donated is greatly appreciated and we couldn’t have raised as much without their assistance.”

Tickets will also be available to purchase at the Kingaroy Show on Saturday.

Former Channel 9 newsreader Heather Foord will draw the raffle winner at the Mayor’s Gala Ball on June 1.
