A Flood Recovery barbecue will be held at Booubyjan Hall on Friday, March 1, to provide information about flood recovery assistance packages.

Farmers along the Boonara Creek catchment were hit hard by the Australia Day floods.

Many were stranded on their properties by floodwaters for several days and suffered substantial damage to fences, machinery, topsoil and livestock.

The barbecue will provide information on financial assistance and how to apply; registering for BlazeAid assistance; and where to get additional help for things such as counselling and land recovery.

The barbecue will have representatives on hand from the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), QRAA, farm financial counsellors, Centrelink, BlazeAid, Gympie Regional Council, the South Burnett Regional Council, Centacare South Burnett, BIEDO, the Burnett Mary Regional Group, Counselling and Pastoral Care and Livestock Disease Advice.

Guests will be able to book one-on-one appointments from 10:00am.

The Information sessions will start at noon, and be followed by a free barbecue at 3:00pm.

The event is being jointly sponsored by Landcare South Burnett, HelpQldFarmers.com.au and BGA Agriservices.

To help plan catering, RSVPs are necessary.

They can be made by phoning the Lawless family on (07) 4168-6262.
