South Burnett residents love a parade! And it was proven true again on Saturday as crowds lined Drayton Street as part of the 2012 Heritage Mardi Gras.

Everything from vintage caravans to human-powered vehicles paraded up and down the street, joined by musicians, floats and even a half-scale replica of a World War I aircraft.

Dancing also proved popular, with rock’nrollers (promoting next weekend’s Waterhole Rocks festival), joining line dancers and an amazing flash dance display by students, teachers and parents from Nanango State School.

The parade followed the traditional King Of The Mountain running competition, which was again hotly contested. Local residents did well this year, dominating the positions on the winners’ podium.

After the parade, the crowd streamed down the hill to Pioneer Park to enjoy live music, browse stalls and watch a mini-circus with budgerigars.
