South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Murgon Music Muster
The second-last day of the annual 5-day Murgon Music Muster will get underway at the Murgon PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon today with a bush poet's breakfast in the morning, then a full day concert by professional invited artists including multi–Golden Guitar winner Adam Harvey; local artists Dean Perrett, Lloyd Back and Amber Goldsmith; and many other artists including Alice Benfer, Pete Smith, Brendan Radford, Paul Ricketts, Clyde Cameron, Clarrie Weller and Lindsay Waddington. Entry into the Muster is $40 today (or $20 for children aged 5-14) and the event will conclude tomorrow with a gospel concert. There'll also be a licensed bar and canteen operating on site, and camping sites ($13 per person per night for powered sites or $10 pp/pn for unpowered sites) are available if you want to stay over. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Proston Rally & Burnouts
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their quarterly Proston Rally at their racing track this weekend (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston at 757 Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence around 11:00am this morning and there'll also be burnouts from around 6:00pm, with racing wrapping up around 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll also be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a bar running from 5:00pm tonight and a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club available early on Sunday morning. Pistols & Peanuts - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pistol Club will be holding the second day of their three-day ISSF and Blackpowder Open Shoot at their clubhouse at the corner of Harris and Redmans roads in Kingaroy today as part of this year's 60th anniversary celebrations. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Seat Installation Ceremony - Murgon
The Murgon Business and Development Association will be holding a public ceremony in front of the Murgon Visitor Information Centre in Lamb Street at 10:00am this morning in honour of well-known Murgon retailer Mark Smith, who sadly passed earlier this year. The ceremony will be attended by Mark's family and friends, and it will officially unveil a new Memorial Bench that will be placed in front of Mark Smith Menswear. Everyone is welcome!
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am and continuing on until noon. Junior Motorcycle Club Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a weekend of racing on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy this weekend to catch up with club days that were washed out earlier this year. The club is for young motorcycle riders aged 4 to 16. Today's racing action will run until around 3:00pm, and spectators are very welcome to come along and watch for free.
Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. Note: Today's Railway Parkrun is also the group's first birthday.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. LifeFlight Gala Dinner - Kingaroy
SOLD OUT: A gala dinner to raise funds for RACQ LifeFlight will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm until late tonight. Guests at this semi-formal affair can enjoy a three course dinner prepared by Roberta Schablon and her team from The Saucy Fork; a licensed bar; and entertainment from popular South Burnett band Ryza. Tickets are $95 per head and they can be booked online
RSL Chattels Auction - Yarraman
Yarraman RSL will be holding a Chattels Auction at the RSL's rooms in Ki8tty Cook House at 1 Emmert Street, Yarraman at 9:30am this morning. Goods up for auction include used building materials, vinyl records, memorabilia, bric a brac and more and everyone is welcome. Proceeds of the auction will go to assist the RSL's work to support war veterans.

Saturday Cricket
The fifth round of the South Burnett's 2022-23 senior cricket competition will get underway at 12:30pm today when Nanango Yellow play Wondai at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango; Kingaroy Services Blue play Murgon at Murgon Showgrounds; Nanango Purple play Kingaroy Services Orange at Taabinga State School; and Tingoora Vikings play Wooroolin Warriors at the Tingoora Sportsgrounds. Meanwhile, junior games will start a little earlier with Kingaroy playing Nanango at 8:00am at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in the fourth round of the Stage 3 competition; and Kingaroy Pineview Westlink playing Nananngo at the same fields fourth round of Stage 2, also at 8:00am. And in the Gympie A-Grade competition, Murgon will play the Gympie Harlequins at Murgon Showgrounds while Wooroolin Warriors play the Gympie Royals at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy - both matches starting at 12:30pm. Spectators are very welcome at all games.
Yarraman Men's Shed
