South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival
The annual Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds in Laird Street, Goomeri from 5:00pm to around 8:00pm this evening. As usual, the Carnival will feature lots of food and novelty stalls, fun entertainment for children, live music from Amber Goldsmith and a visit from Mrs Santa Claus. And at around 8:00pm, and the night will be capped off with a big fireworks display thanks to Nedloh Rural. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission.
Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Handel's Messiah - Nanango
The Toowoomba Philharmonic Society will be performing Handel's Messiah in its entirety at Our Lady Help Of Christians church at 37 Gipps Street, Nanango at 2:00pm this afternoon. The performance is part of a series that also includes three other performances at Toowoomba and Warwick, and tickets are $25 for adults or $20 for students and concession card holders. Everyone is welcome!
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am and continuing on until noon. South Burnett Woodcrafters Garage Sale - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Woodcrafters will be holding a big garage sale at their headquarters in King Street, Kingaroy (the old QRail site) from 6:00am this morning. Apart from a great range of high quality woodworks in the group's shop - just perfect for Christmas gifts! - along with surplus tools and equipment on display in the main building, there'll also be a BBQ and coffee van operating on site for breakfast and/or snacks. Everyone is welcome, and the sale will run until stocks are exhausted.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Team Penning - Nanango
The Nanango Campdraft Committee will be holding the first day of a two day Team Penning competition at Nanango Showgrounds this weekend. The canteen will be open for refreshments; hot showers and toilet facilities are available onsite; and powered and unpowered campsites are available in the grounds for competitors. Yarraman Men's Shed

Nigel Seto - Kingaroy
Comedian Nigel Seto will be performing his show Miner Threat at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight. Miner Threat is a comedy about mining (and mining towns) and tickets are $18.50 per head. You can book them on TryBooking.
Greg Griffith - Linville
Entertainer Greg Griffith will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm today. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Nanango Mini Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1.20 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Feature Ranch Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding a Feature Ranch Show at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:00am until late today. Shane Massingham will be doing the judging, and entrants are welcome to register on the day ($30 for non-members or $20 for members). The Ranch Show will be run under PHAA rules and will offer Ranch Trail, Ranch Riding, Ranch Reining and Ranch Conformation events, each offering ribbons from 1st to 6th place, along with Show High Point Awards across 12 categories. Spectators are welcome to come watch the action for free and the club's canteen will be operating. There's also free camping in the grounds if you want to stay over for tomorrow's Mock Show.
Christmas Family Fun Day - Murgon
The Murgon Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south of the CBD will be holding a Christmas Family Fun Day from 1:00pm this afternoon. The central event will be a 3-person ambrose over 9 holes and players who dress to a Christmas theme can be in the running for some great prizes. Saturday Cricket
The seventh round of the South Burnett's 2022-23 senior cricket competition will get under way at 12:30pm today when Nanango Yellow play Nanango Purple at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango; Murgon play Tingoora Vikings at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon; Kingaroy Services Blue play Wondai at the Wondai Cricket Grounds on the highway north of Wondai's CBD; and Kingaroy Services Orange play Wooroolin Warriors at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy. Meanwhile, junior games will start a little earlier with Kingaroy playing Nanango at 8:00am at Taabinga State School in the seventh round of the Stage 3 competition; and Kingaroy Wamuran Timbers playing Nanango at the River Road, Kingaroy oval in the sixth round of Stage 2, also starting at 8:00am. And in the Gympie A Grade competition, Murgon Crusaders and Wooroolin Warriors will both be playing in Gympie today, with matches starting at 12:30pm. Spectators are very welcome at all games.
Open Garden - Brooklands
Greg and Joy Patch will be holding an Open Garden at their home at 86 Boldery Road in Brooklands from 8:30am to 3:00pm today as a fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation. Apart from a wonderful garden display, the event will also offer morning teas, a BBQ lunch and plant and craft stalls. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome! More details?
