South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Burrandowan Campdraft
The second day of the annual Burrandowan Campdraft will be held at the Burrandowan Race Track, 60km south-west of Kingaroy, from 5:30am today. The event, which is a fundraiser for the Burrandowan Picnic Races, is being run with a COVID Safe management plan. Today's drafts include the Novice final, Open (1st round) and Open (second round). Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Proston Rally Club Meeting
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding a meeting at their racing track at 4:30pm this afternoon. The club's track is located about 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road (look for the signs) and members recently held a big working bee there to get it in good order for the next season. The club is now trying to work out dates for their 2021 rally schedule, which may begin in May if everyone agrees. All interested people are very welcome to attend. More details? Phone 0458-689-446.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 6:00am to around noon today. The markets are jointly run by the Kingaroy Show Society and feature a great range of items, including pot plants, fruit and vegies, tools, arts and crafts, budgies and guinea pigs. A coffee van will be there and the canteen will be open. There'll also be a sausage sizzle and bacon and egg burgers. New stallholders are always very welcome! More details? Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Saturday Cricket
In South Burnett junior cricket, Stages 1-3 will all be played at Nanango Sportsground between Nanango and Kingaroy. Games start at 8:00am. In South Burnett senior cricket, Wondai Wolves v Murgon Diggers at Wondai Cricket Ground, Kumbia Rattlers v Nanango Scorpions at Kumbia Sportsground, and Kingaroy Services v Cherbourg at Taabinga State School. All games start at 12:30pm. Wooroolin Warriors have the bye. In the Gympie A Grade Two-Day competition, two Day 1 games will be played in the South Burnett. Murgon Crusaders v Western Gympie at Murgon Showground and Wooroolin Warriors v Harlequins at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy. Games will start at 12:30pm.
Brad Sorensen - Kingaroy
Entertainer Brad Sorensen will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1755.
Seeds Of Hope Bingo - Kingaroy
Bingo games will be held near the caravan park entrance at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm this evening (doors open at 6:00pm). The games help raise funds for local community groups and in addition to great bingo prizes there'll also be chips, lollies, drinks and other snacks on sale. Everyone is welcome! More details? Open Mic Night With Skin & Bone - Wondai
Popular South Burnett band Skin & Bone will be performing at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:00pm until late tonight. Food Trucks Saturday - Goomeri
Goomeri will be holding another Food Trucks Saturday with gourmet food trucks, a twilight market, live music and free entertainment for children in Goomeri's Market Square behind Joe's Grand Hotel and opposite the former Goomeri Railway Station from 5:00pm to around 9:00pm this evening. Today's get-together is a nice warm-up and fundraiser for the 21st annual Pumpkin Festival in May, and is is jointly sponsored by the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival and Gympie Regional Council. It's also run in a COVID Safe way. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission fee.
