South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today, with stallholders selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks, foods and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Art Gallery's "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
BYTE Nite At The Pool - Murgon
South Burnett PCYC's popular "BYTE Nite @ The Pool" will be on again from 5:00pm to 8:00pm this evening at Murgon Jubilee Pool in Gore Street, Murgon. It's a free night of fun, games and dinner hosted by local volunteers. Everyone is welcome but children under 12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

Mr Q At The Cecil - Wondai
Popular South Burnett entertainers Mr Q will be performing live at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late tonight, laying down their happy mix of blues, soul and good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Nanango Mini Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1.20 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Ryza - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett quartet Ryza will be performing at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets in Kingaroy from 7:30pm tonight. Seeds Of Hope Bingo - Kingaroy
Bingo games will be held near the caravan park entrance at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm this evening (doors open at 6:00pm). The games help raise funds for local community groups and in addition to great bingo prizes there'll also be chips, lollies, drinks and other snacks on sale. Everyone is welcome! More details? Acting Workshop - Nanango
Today is the first day of a two-day acting workshop being organised by the Nanango Theatre Company. The group is calling on all aspiring actors and directors to join them. The workshop will be run by Mark and Shirley Lucas, from Excalibur Theatre Company at Caboolture. Workshop fees are just $20 for each day, but bookings must be made in advance as places are limited. Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's 2020-21 cricket season is now moving towards the sharp end and all three grades (Gympie, Senior and Junior) will be holding matches in Kingaroy and Murgon today. In Junior cricket, Stage 1 games will be held at the park in upper River Road, Kingaroy; in Stage 2, Kingaroy Burnett Water will play Kingaroy Northern Agriservices at Kingaroy State School; and in Stage 3, Murgon will play Kingaroy Northern Agriservices at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street (all junior games start at 8:00am). In Senior cricket - where teams are now just a week away from the semi-finals - Wondai Wolves will play Cherbourg at the Wondai Cricket Grounds; Wooroolin Warriors will play Nanango Scorpions at Kingaroy State School; and Kingaroy Services will play Kumbia Rattlers at Taabinga State School (all matches start at 12:30pm). And finally, in A-Grade in the second day of round 4 of Gympie's 2 Day Competition, Murgon Crusaders will play Western Gympie at Murgon's Macalister Street showgrounds, while Wooroolin Warriors will tackle Gympie's Harlequins at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (both matches also start at 12:30pm). Spectators are very welcome!
Movies In The Park - Kilkivan
Gympie Regional Council and the Kilkivan P&C are hosting another free Movies In The Park night this evening in Kilkivan Lions Park. The barbecue will be going from 6:30pm with the movie, "Trolls World Tour", starting at 7:00pm. If it's raining, the event will be cancelled (check the GRC's Facebook page - if Facebook lets you! - for any updates).
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282.
