South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Nanango Races
The Nanango Race Club will be holding its annual Valentine's Day Race Meeting at Lee Park, off the D'Aguilar Highway today. Gates open at 10:00am and COVID-19 restrictions are in place. Today's card features five races. Fashions of the Field will have a "Pretty In Pink" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in pink for some great prizes. A licensed bar and BBQ will be operating and the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining. As usual, a bookies' ring and TAB will be operating. Buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the rear of Nanango's Fitzroy Hotel at 12:30pm. Race 1 will leave the barriers about 1:30pm. Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Summer Tunes - Yarraman
Toowoomba Regional Council will be staging its touring "Summer Tunes" music program at the vacant block on the corner of Toomey and Margaret Streets in Yarraman from 10:00am to 1:00pm today. Summer Tunes has been touring the Toowoomba region's towns over the past few months, providing contemporary music delivered by talented musicians, and today will be the first time it's been performed in Yarraman since March last year. Admission is free and everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Barlight - Kingaroy
Entertainers Barlight will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1755.
Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Gympie, Murgon and Wondai today. In A Grade, Day 2 of the two-day games between Murgon Crusaders and Harlequins, and Wooroolin Warriors and Gympie Wests, will be played in Gympie from 9:00am. In B Grade, Cherbourg will play Kumbia Rattlers at Murgon State High School; Wondai Wolves will play Nanango Scorpions at Wondai Cricket Field and Murgon Diggers will play Wooroolin Warriors at Murgon Sportsground (all matches start at 12:30pm - Kingaroy Services has the bye). In Juniors, Stage 1 Kingaroy v Nanango will be at the River Road ground in Kingaroy; Kingaroy Northern AgriServices will play Nanango at Taabinga State School in Stage 2; and Murgon will play Nanango at Murgon Sportsground in Stage 3 (all junior matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are very welcome at all games but will need to observe proper social distancing.
Mr Q At The Palace - Nanango
Popular South Burnett band Mr Q will be performing as an acoustic duo at the Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 7:30pm until late tonight in a post-Nanango Races wind-down party. Seeds Of Hope Bingo - Kingaroy
Bingo games will be held near the caravan park entrance at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm this evening (doors open at 6:00pm). The games help raise funds for local community groups and in addition to great bingo prizes there'll also be chips, lollies, drinks and other snacks on sale. Everyone is welcome! More details? Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Wide Bay Bulls v Western Mustangs Trials - Kingaroy
Trial games for the Wide Bay Bulls and Western Mustangs rep rugby league teams will be played at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy this afternoon. The games will kick off with an U16s boys match at 1:00pm. This will be followed with an U19s ladies match at 2:30pm and then an U18s mens match at 4:00pm. A bar and canteen will be operating at the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
