Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
South Burnett Soccer Sevens - Kingaroy
The 38th annual South Burnett Soccer Sevens will be held at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy all this weekend. This giant pre-season carnival - run by the South Burnett Senior Soccer Association - attracts teams from all over south-east Queensland and is one of the region's major annual sporting events. This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 48 mens, womens and Over 35s teams (ie 490 players all up) competing for prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 10:00am and will run to about 6:00pm. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar, BBQ and canteen operating at the grounds too, all under COVID Safe conditions. The carnival will conclude with finals matches tomorrow.
Food Trucks Saturday - Goomeri
Goomeri will be holding another Food Trucks Saturday with gourmet food trucks, a twilight market, live music and free entertainment for children in Goomeri's Market Square behind Joe's Grand Hotel and opposite the former Goomeri Railway Station from 5:00pm to around 9:00pm this evening. Today's get-together is the first since Goomeri's Christmas Carnival last December and a nice warm-up for the 21st annual Pumpkin Festival in May. The event is jointly sponsored by the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival and Gympie Regional Council and is run in a COVID Safe way. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission fee.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Gordonbrook Dam Ride
The South Burnett Mountain Bike Club will be holding a ride to their new mountain bike adventure track at Gordonbrook Dam from 7:00am to around 10:00am this morning. Cyclists - whether they're club members or not - should meet up outside The Butcher's Cafe on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin at 7:00am (or earlier, if you want to pop into the cafe for a great bacon and egg brekkie roll) before pedalling out to the dam, and then back again. Smoke n' Dust - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer Amber Goldsmith will be performing with her new band Smoke n' Dust at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until around 10:00pm tonight, followed by DJ Direx who'll be spinning the platters until late. Open Mic Night With Miss Matched - Proston
The Golden Spurs Hotel at the corner of Blake and Rodney Streets in Proston will be holding another Open Mic Night led by popular band Miss Matched from 7:00pm until late tonight. The Spurs' kitchen will also be open from 6:30pm if you want to grab a great dinner or a snack beforehand. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission charge. More details? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
3rd Annual Grape Stomp - Kingaroy
Kingsley Grove Estate at Stuart Valley Drive off the Bunya Highway south-west of Kingaroy will be holding their 3rd annual Grape Stomp from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. As the name implies, the event will feature fun grape stomping competitions and there'll also be 20 market stalls on site, live entertainment from popular South Burnett duo Misfitz and a jumping castle to keep children amused. Kingsley Grove will be offering free wine tastings, cheese plates for $15, wood-fired pizzas for $25 and wine ice-creams for $5, with extra wine available by the glass or bottle. While some under cover seating is available, it's likely to fill up fast so guests should BYO chairs (and possibly sun shade if it's bright), and everyone will also need to register beforehand and observe COVID Safe conditions. Admission is by gold coin donation, no BYO food or drink is allowed, and everyone is welcome.
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
After a year under wraps due to COVID, the first South Burnett dance of 2021 will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight. Music will be supplied by Mystique and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door. Robert Early - Kingaroy

Sunset Session - Moffatdale
Now that the harvest has finished, Barambah Cellars at Tipperary Road in Moffatdale will be holding their first Sunset Session for 2021 at their cellar door from 4:30pm to around 8:30pm today. Guests can tuck into fantastic local wines, wicked wine cocktails and delicious local produce, along with live music from Guy Davis. There's no admission charge and everyone is welcome. More details? Seeds Of Hope Bingo - Kingaroy
Bingo games will be held near the caravan park entrance at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm this evening (doors open at 6:00pm). The games help raise funds for local community groups and in addition to great bingo prizes there'll also be chips, lollies, drinks and other snacks on sale. Everyone is welcome! More details? Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Gympie, Kumbia, Murgon and Kingaroy today. In A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will take on Harlequins and Wooroolin Warriors will play Gympie Wests in Gympie from 9:00am. In B Grade, Kumbia Rattlers will play Wooroolin Warriors at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds in Gordon Street, Kumbia; Kingaroy Services will play Murgon Diggers at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy; and Cherbourg will play Nanango Scorpions at Murgon State High School in Murgon (all matches start at 12:30pm - Wondai has the bye). Finally - in Juniors - very junior Round 1 cricketers will play at the park near the eastern roundabout in River Road, Kingaroy; Kingaroy Northern AgriServices will play Kingaroy Burnett Water at Taabinga State School in Stage 2; and Murgon will play Kingaroy Burnett Water at Kingaroy State High School in Stage 3 (all junior matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are very welcome at all games but will need to observe proper social distancing.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Uncle Salty - Kingaroy
