Good Friday Public Holiday
Today is Good Friday, a public holiday. Most South Burnett business will either be closed today or operating on restricted hours.
Maidenwell Easter Running Festival
UPDATE: The festival is going ahead but in a reduced format. Today is the first day of the annual 3-day Maidenwell Easter Running Festival, which is returning after last year's COVID-enforced cancellation. Events will kick off about 12:00 noon and will continue across the weekend to about noon on Sunday. Today's races will feature half marathon and a full marathon - both starting at noon - and these will be followed this evening with a traditional Easter fish and chip dinner at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (see entry below). Spectators and supporters are very welcome, too, and more information is available on the Run Maidenwell website
Good Friday Fish & Chips - Maidenwell
A community dinner featuring fish'n'chips, salad and pasta will be held from 6:00pm tonight at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds to coincide with the Easter Running Festival (see entry above). Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children (under 10), and guests should BYO chairs and drinks. Everyone is welcome and a COVID Safe plan will apply. However, all guests should RSVP to Ros on 0427-648-093 by March 26 to help organisers plan the catering.
Ken and Annie’s Music Campout Festival - Blackbutt
CANCELLED: Singers and poets of all experience levels will be performing at Ken and Annie’s Music Campout Festival at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from today through to Easter Sunday. This tagalong tour festival will be coming to Blackbutt with 80 caravans in tow and it will feature workshops and open microphone sessions where participants can put what they've learned to the test. The event is open to everyone - whether they're tone deaf or pitch perfect - and admission for the general public is a slim $2 per day. Camping facilities are also available at the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. More details? Contact Annie Davey on 0408-707-114.
