South Burnett Gem Show - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the final day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The event will feature unique crystal, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor tailgaters; and lots of fun for the kids including sand sieving; Thunder Egg cutting; lucky dips and free face painting. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too, and there'll be a minerals numbers board as well. The Gem Show drew rave reviews from people who attended the first event in 2019 (the Gem Show couldn't be held last year due to COVID) and if you're a gemstone or lapidary fan it's even more of a "must go" event this year. Ladies Carnival - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on the Proston-Boondooma Road will be running their annual Ladies Carnival from 9:00am today. This popular event always attracts a good field of women golfers and the $25 nomination fee includes morning tea and lunch. Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The third (and final) day of the 3-day Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will be held around Kilkivan today, kicking off at 8:00am with a junior and senior Stockman's Challenge at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 66 Mudlo Road that will run until late afternoon, along with a Performance Horse Competition and a Car Boot Sale. Afterwards, unpowered overnight camping will be available at the Showgrounds for $10 per adult. Everyone is welcome, and you can get more information on the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride website
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Garry McCoy's Motorcycle Swap Meet - Cooyar
Garry McCoy and McCoy's Cafe on the New England Highway in the heart of Cooyar will be holding a Motorcycle Swap Meet from 7:00am this morning until late this afternoon. The Swap Meet is a great opportunity to buy, sell and swap motorcycle parts, accessories and even entire bikes. There's no admission charge and everyone is welcome. More details? Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft
The new Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft will be held at the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway south-west of town from 6:00am this morning through until later this afternoon. The event will feature Novice, Juvenile and Junior Drafts for cash prizes, and a bar and canteen will be running tonight after the action winds down. The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Open Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding an Open Show at the Nanango Equestrian Centre in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:00am this morning until late this afternoon. Today's Show will be judged by Bob Sim, is PHAA approved and will be run under HSAA rules. It will feature 104 events in a wide range of classes and while bookings have now closed, spectators are very welcome to come along and watch all the action for free.
Sunday Poker - Kingaroy
