22nd Annual Stamp Fair - Nanango
The Nanango Stamp Club will be holding their 22nd annual Stamp Fair from 9:00am to 4:00pm today at the Nanango State High School Hall in Elk Street, Nanango. The event will feature a philatelic auction, a cent auction, a bargain table and a very busy canteen. There'll also be lots of great displays to delight any true philatelist's heart; three professional stamp dealers and 16 to 18 stamp clubs in attendance. Cooyar Show Ball
The annual Cooyar Show Ball - the traditional curtain-raiser for the Cooyar Show on February 20th - will be held at Cooyar Hall in Munro Street, Cooyar from 7:30pm until late tonight. A feature of this fully licensed event will be the announcement of this year's Miss Cooyar Showgirl, Miss Teen Showgirl and Rural Ambassador. In what appears to be a bit of a boilover, music this year will be supplied by Barry's Music (not The Silvertones) and there'll be a great supper supplied too. Kingaroy Red Ants 2016 Sign On Day
The Kingaroy Rugby League Football Club (the Red Ants) will be holding their 2016 Sign On Day at their clubhouse at TJ O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. The club is processing all its registrations online this year, so today's sign-up is just for processing payments and completing the rest of the paperwork. 2016 fees are $135 for the 1st and 2nd player, and $80 for each subsequent player - but if you pay before today you can get an early bird discount ($125 for 1st and 2nd, $60 for all subsequent players). Percy Iszlaub's 90th Birthday Party - Wondai
Former Wondai Shire Mayor Percy Iszlaub celebrated his 90th birthday on February 3 - and this afternoon he will be holding a public birthday party at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street. Percy and fellow members of the Wondai Town & District Band, along with members of Nambour’s award-winning Sunshine Band, will be performing a concert, kicking off at 2:00pm sharp and concluding at around 4:00pm with afternoon tea. There'll also be testimonials from South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann and local sports guru Russell "Skippy" Exelby. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
South Burnett Saints AFL Sign On Day
The South Burnett Saints AFL Club will be holding the first of two sign on days at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to 1:00pm today (the second sign on day will be at the same time and place next Saturday, February 13). The Saints are looking for players for their men's, women's and junior squads for the 2016 competition.
Great Summer Art Sale - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street (just opposite the peanut silos) will be officially opening their Great Summer Art Sale from 1:30pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. The Sale offers an exceptional collection of high quality works from 40 South Burnett artists, and after today's openinging it will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm Mondays to Fridays and 10:00am to 2:00pm on weekends until the end of the month.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Nanango Panthers Sign-On Day
The Nanango Panthers soccer club will be holding their 2016 Sign On Day at the Burnett Street Soccer Fields from 9:30am to 12:30pm this morning. Returning and new players can also register online to save time. Junior player registrations will be accepted from children who'll turn 5 in 2016 through to 16 years of age, and Seniors from 17 years to adult. The club is also registered with Get Started funding program to assist eligible children with fees.
Kilkivan Endurance Ride
The Kilkivan Endurance Riders Club will be kicking off the first day of their weekend-long Kilkivan Endurance Ride at Kilkivan Showgrounds at 88 Mudlo Road, Kilkivan from 9:00am this morning. There'll be two rides on offer today (and also tomorrow): one of 20km and the other of 40km - and ride fees are $30 or $60 respectively. More than 117 riders have nominated to take part in this year's event, and you can find out more details on the KERS Facebook page.
The Kennel Jam Session - Hivesville
The Hivesville Hotel will be holding its first Saturday of the month Kennel Jam Session from 5:00pm until late this evening. This monthly get-together is for musicians of all ages and all genres, as well as fans of live music.
