South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Orchid Society Meeting
The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm onwards this aftenoon. The Society exists for orchid enthusiasts of all skill levels and meets on the last Sunday of every month except December. New members and visitors are always very welcome. More details? Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas; and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park.
South Burnett Soccer Sevens - Kingaroy
The second (and final) day of the 34th annual Evolution Solar South Burnett Soccer Sevens will be held at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy today. This giant pre-season carnival - run by the South Burnett Senior Soccer Association - attracts teams from all over south-east Queensland and is one of the region's major annual sporting events. This year organisers expect there'll be upwards of 44 mens and womens teams competing for more than $2,000 in prize monies and locals are also very welcome to form a team and join in! Today's games will get underway at around 8:00am and will run to about 3:30pm, when presentations will be made to the winners in the Men's, Women's and Over-35s divisions. Admission to the Soccer Sevens is 100% free for spectators and there'll be a licensed bar, BBQ, coffee van and canteen operating at the grounds too. Ringsfield Film Society Movie Afternoon - Nanango
The Ringsfield Film Society will be screening a Sunday afternoon movie at their cinema - the old chapel in the grounds of Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango - at 2:30pm today. Nanango Campdraft
The Nanango Show Society will be hosting its annual Nanango Campdraft at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango today, starting at 6:00am. This year, this two day event has been ramped back to a single-day competition but it should still provide a great day's entertainment for campdrafters and campdrafting fans. Entry is 100% free for spectators and if you start feeling peckish watching all the events, food stalls, a bar and an ice cream van will be on-site too. More information? Kilkivan Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. South Nanango Rural Fire Brigade Open Day
The South Nanango Rural Fire Brigade will be marking National Red Balloon Day - in honour of Australian fireys - with an Open Day at their shed on the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango's CBD from 10:00am to 3:00pm today. There'll be a sausage sizzle, fairy floss for the children, tea/coffee, cold drinks, face painting and a jumping castle, and everyone is welcome!
Horse Agility Day - Cloyna
The Queensland Horse Agility Support Group will be holding a Horse Agility Day at Cloyna from 10:00am to around 4:00pm today. The event will feature water obstacles, a car wash, mazes, noodle pits, trail gates, trotting poles, bridges, tunnels, tarps, a centipede jump and lots more. More details? Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Car Boot Sales And Market Stalls at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. These markets offer car boot sales plus a variety of market stalls selling various goods and wares including wood fired pizza, fruit and veg, plants, jams and pickles, cakes, bric-a-brac, books and second hand goodies, crafts and lots more (even face painting for children). Stallholder/Car boot fees are just $10 each, payable on day, and all proceeds go to the Maidenwell Community Group for the development of the township. Everyone is welcome! More details? Timbertown Woodworkers Group - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today.
