2016 Spring Garden Expo
The Wondai Garden Expo Committee will be holding the second (and final) day of their weekend-long 2016 Wondai Spring Garden Expo at the Wondai Sports Grounds off the Bunya Highway in Wondai from 8:00am to 1:00pm today. As is always the case with these very popular Garden Expos, keen gardeners will be able to enjoy a very wide display of plants, pots, fertilizers, outdoor products and much more from over 140 exhibitors in what's quite possibly the largest gardening display of its kind in south-east Queensland. There'll also be expert guest speakers; live entertainment in the grounds; a Horticultural Show and display; and lots of food and refreshment stands too. In addition, there'll be lucky spot prizes all weekend and a major multi-draw raffle. Entry fees are just $5.00 per person and young people under 15 who are accompanied by an adult are free. There's also plenty of free parking nearby. More details? Phone Helen on (07) 4168-9297 or email her. You can also get additional information on Wondai Garden Expo's website.

Ringsfield Film Society Movie Afternoon - Nanango
The Ringsfield Film Society will be screening a Sunday afternoon movie at their cinema - the old chapel in the grounds of Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango - at 2:30pm today. This month's film is "Seven Little Australians", a classic Australian children's novel by Ethel Turner written in 1894. Set mainly in Sydney in the 1880s, it relates the adventures of the seven mischievous Woolcot children, their stern army father Captain Woolcot, and flighty stepmother Esther. In 1994 the novel was the only book by an Australian author to have been continuously in print for 100 years and today's film - shot in 1939 - is the only film to have been made of the book, though there have been two TV series (by the BBC and ABC) and several theatre adaptations. Admission to today's screening is $8, which covers the cost of the venue and coffee, tea and scones at interval. More details? Phone Ringsfield House on (07) 4163-3345 or send them an email. You can also find out more about the Film Society on their Facebook page.
