Lucas Oils Kingaroy Speedway
- The South Burnett Speedway will be roaring into life at 4:00pm this afternoon with the first day of their bumper three-day Kings Royal Modified Production Meeting - probably the biggest single race meeting the club has ever held. Tonight's racing will kick off with Hotlaps at 5:00pm (with 5 cars on the track at once) followed by Qualifiers at 6:15pm for the survivors. After this, there'll be Modified Productions (night 1 of 3); the first round of the South Burnett Junior Nationals (for Juniors - finals tomorrow night); and Microsprints. Tickets for tonight's races are $25 for adults, $15 for students/pensioners or $65 for families of four (under 12s are free) or you can buy a 3-day super pass for the whole weekend: $60 for adults, $40 for students/pensioners or $150 for a family. Camping is also available in the Showgrounds for the entire weekend for $60 per site - but first in, best-dressed! (gates open at 9:00am). You can find out more on the Speedway's website.
Friday Night Social Bowls - Murgon
- The Murgon Bowls Club in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding Friday Night Social Bowls from 6:00pm onwards this evening (bar opens at 4:00m; games start at 6:30pm). The $15 green fee includes all games and a great BBQ dinner, and it's open to bowlers and non-bowlers alike - just wear soft-soled shoes or go barefoot. Friday Night With The Sultan Of Sax - Wondai
- The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing on the rear deck of the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. - The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. Dirt, Bikes and Music - Manar Park
- Manar Park's Australia Day Long Weekend Dirt Bike Challenge will get underway today with a Meet & Greet in the marquee, rider briefings and the unveiling of market stalls as riders flock into the park for the long weekend event. Over the course of the coming three days there'll be a hill climb challenge, flat track races, barrel races and the Tristan Clifford Memorial Track Challenge, all of which promise plenty of thrills for participants and spectators alike. The Manar Park motocross complex is located on Boondooma Road, north of Proston (turn-off just past Boondooma Homestead). There'll also be live music and a licenced bar; food stalls, trades stalls and merchandise. Activities for children include boogie board races, time trials and thong throwing. - The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be open from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and 2:00pm to 4:00pm today behind the Salvation Army's headquarters at 44 Alford Street in Kingaroy. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
