Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The fourth bi-monthly Junior Blue Light Disco for 2014 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well, courtesy of this month's major sponsors Kelly & Frecklington Solicitors. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular third Friday of the month U13s To U18s Skating Night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. Greet, Meet & Eat - Yarraman
A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Phillips Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yaraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon. Amber Goldsmith - Murgon
Popular South Burnett country performer Amber Goldsmith will be making her next-to-last appearance at the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon from 7:30pm until late this evening. Amber recently announced that she's retiring from music and preparing for impending motherhood, and tonight's performance will be a final chance for fans in the northern parts of the region to hear her in concert. The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Stress Busters Workshop - Nanango
Nanango GP Dr John Robinson will be guest speaker at a special "Stress Busters Workshop" being held at Tara's Hall next to Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 7:00pm this evening. This free workshop is being run as a comnmunity service by the Nanango Community Health Group and the Uniting Church, and Dr Robinson will be speaking on how to recognise and manage stress. There'll also be a supper and chat, along with free entertainment from Tori Sommers and Bruce Webb, and everyone is welcome - but for catering purposes, and RSVP to Bevan on (07) 4163-1431 or Narelle on (07) 4163-2387 would be greatly appreciated.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
