South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Races Winter Race Day
The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their annual Wondai Winter Race Day meeting at the Wondai race track in Cadell Street, Wondai from around 12:00 noon today (the first race leaves the barriers around 1:40pm). The theme of today's meeting is "Winter Wonderland" and guests are encouraged to dress to this theme to be in the running for great prizes in the hotly-contested Fashions Of The Field competition. As usual, the meeting will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of Brisbane and interstate races (along with interstate betting fluctuations); a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar and a Punters Podium. The always popular Lady Luck Cocktail Bar will be in full swing too, along with the track's canteen. Buses will be leaving the Fitzroy Hotel in Nanango at noon, the Commercial Hotel in Kingaroy at 12:30pm, Proston’s Golden Spurs Hotel at 11:30am, the Hivesville Hotel at 11:45am and the Murgon Newsagency at 12:30pm (phone 0427-193-552 to guarantee a seat). Murgon Camera Club Meeting - Wondai
The Murgon Camera Club will be holding their regular monthly meeting at The Studio at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. Saturday Rugby League - Nanango
After a one week break for the winter school vacation, Round 11 of the South Burnett's 2014 rugby league season will resume at Stags Oval off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango's CBD this afternoon - and it'll be a double header. At 3:30pm, the Kingaroy Red Ants will play the Murgon Mustangs in what promises to be a very interesting match between two very good teams. And then at 5:30pm, the so far unbeaten Cherbourg Hornets will take on the Nanango Stags, with the Stags no doubt keen to perform well in front of their home crowd. Admission to the grounds for the A-Grade games is $5; a bar and canteen will be operating; and spectators and supporters are very welcome!
Dance - Booie Hall
A dance will be held at Booie Hall from 7:300pm until around 11:30pm this evening. Music will be supplied by a local band and there'll be the usual great supper, novelties and lucky door prize. Saturday Soccer - Nanango and Kingaroy
After a one-week break for the winter school holidays, the twelfth round of the South Burnett Evolution Solar Football League will resume in Nanango and Kingaroy this afternoon. In Nanango, the home team Panthers will play Wests at the Nanango Soccer Grounds in Burnett Street, with 2nd Division kicking off at 12:30pm, followed by Women's Division at 2:00pm and the 1st Division clash at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, Barambah will play Gunners at the Kingaroy Soccer Grounds at the end of Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division hitting the park at 2:00pm; Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division at 5:00pm. A bar and canteen will be running at both venues, admission is free and spectators are very welcome! Meanwhile Junior Soccer will also resume today at the Kingaroy Junior Soccer Fields in Oliver Bond Street, with matches at 8:00am, 8:45am, 9:30am and 10:15am.
Jackpot Karaoke - Wondai
A Jackpot Karaoke Night with Love2Sing will be held at the Warana Hotel at 42 Mackenzie Street in Wondai from 7:30pm until late this evening. Everyone is welcome along to this fun night of singing and dancing and admission is free. More details? Phone Geoff or Sue on (0468) 694-438 or email them.
Nanango Country Lifestyle Expo
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their third annual Nanango Country Lifestyle Expo at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 7:00am to 5:00pm today and tomorrow. The Expo will include - amongst many other things - the Dexter Cattle Show, the Queensland Alpaca Colourbration Show and Team Penning Competition. The South Burnett Woodcrafters will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at their clubhouse, which is located behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street. from 8:00am to around mid-day today. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's monthly Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls.
