Work preparing the new Maidenwell Waste Transfer site earlier this year

December 12, 2025

The new Waste Transfer Station at Maidenwell will officially open on Monday, December 22.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said that prior to that date, members of the public authorised to access the facility would be provided with an access card.

This could be obtained at either the Kingaroy or Nanango Council offices.

“The highly anticipated access of the Waste Transfer Station by the residents of Maidenwell and surrounding areas is finally here, and I would like to acknowledge the patience the community has displayed,” Cr Linda Little said.

“The most significant advantage is that bins can finally be removed from the roadside and town entrance, thereby transforming the experience for locals and visitors alike into a truly uplifting one.

“I look forward to witnessing the community utilise this facility responsibly and it is hoped that the illicit dumping of mattresses, tyres and household furniture will become a thing of the past.

“Camera surveillance will be installed at the Waste Transfer Station, a necessary measure to identify and apprehend those responsible for illegal dumping.”

The localities authorised to utilise the new facility are:

  • Maidenwell
  • Pimpimbudgee
  • Wengenville
  • Neumgna

An access card will be required to enter and exit the facility to limit access to those whom live within the approved localities, ensuring a safer, cleaner and more efficient facility for residents.

Those who live outside of the approved areas that wish to utilise the new facility can apply and the application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Only one card will be issued per property and a refundable bond of $20 will be payable.

If your card is lost or stolen an extra non-refundable charge of $40 plus a new bond fee of $20 will be payable before a replacement card will be issued.

Once a new card is issued, the stolen or lost card number will be removed from the system.

Proof of residency will be required to collect an access card, eg. a current rental lease agreement or current energy account.
