Two road projects in the South Burnett area will be funded under the State Government’s new Country Roads Connect Program.
The successful local projects are Memerambi-Barkers Creek Road (South Burnett Regional Council) and Murray Road (Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council).
They are among 22 projects across Queensland announced by the State Government on Monday.
The program will be administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing, and Regional and Rural Development.
These works are in addition to projects listed in the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program for 2025-26 to 2028-29.
These include the $11.5 million upgrades under way on the D’Aguilar Highway, west of Nanango.

What about Memerambi-Gordonbrook road? It is a disgrace, large rocks protruding from under the dirt road surface, which is basically rock. People live on this road and totally shred their tyres to pieces. Do something please. A bit of bitumen outside the properties at least. The local quarry on the same road contributed to the demise of this so-called road in your electorate.
Why isn’t the single lane bridge at Cooyar being replaced?
What about spending money on existing roads? The road from Yarraman to Nanango needs work done to it. I am sure there are plenty of other roads, that need work on.
Agreed to the bridge at Cooyar… with so many of us travelling to Toowoomba for hospital and doctor visits. I’m frightened every time I reach that bridge, not on the way TO Toowoomba where I can see traffic through the trees (WHY haven’t they been removed?) but on the way back where I have to give way, but there is NO vision until you are actually committed to the bridge.
Unlike me, who slows down when approaching it from the town, most drivers barrel along at way over 60. Guess there haven’t been enough deaths yet.
I would like to clarify that I meant Wilsons Road, Gordonbrook, not Memerambi-Gordonbrook Road like I stated.
Wilsons Road, Gordonbrook, has had an active quarry for years and Wilsons Road is down to bare rock, big drop-offs, corrugations rattle every part of the vehicle, even the four-wheel-drives; tyres are shredded to pieces and cost thousands of dollars to replace.
Please do something. Bitumen would be fantastic. Too much dust and people actually live on this road, which is travelled daily sometimes to access Kingaroy.
Thanks Wendy.
