The biggest weekend of the South Burnett Speedway’s annual calendar roared into action at the Kingaroy Showgrounds track on Friday afternoon.
Racing in the 13th annual Kings Royal meeting – which features a $15,000 prize in the top-billed Modifieds category – started after a Grand Parade and official opening by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington at 4:00pm.
Friday’s action included heats in the Modifieds plus all the heats and final of the 7th annual Queens Royal for female drivers.
Day 2 on Saturday will feature more Modifieds action plus racing in Production Sedans and Street Stocks.
The Modifieds competition will reach a climax on Sunday with the lead-up races to the massive final race (and fireworks display).
Entry tickets for spectators are available at the gate:
- Three-day pass – Adults $80, Pensioners (aged / disability) $60, Students (with ID) $60, Family (2 adults & up to 2 students) $220; Children (12 and under, accompanied by an adult) free
- Single day pass – Adults $30, Pensioners (aged / disability) $25, Students (with ID) $25, Family (2 adults & up to 2 students) $85; Children (12 and under, accompanied by an adult) free
The full three-day Race Program can be downloaded as a PDF from the Kingaroy Speedway’s website (28Mb PDF)
A new event at this year’s Kings Royal weekend is a free Show And Shine being run on Saturday.
Motoring enthusiasts are invited to bring along their car, bike or truck to show off in the oval at the front of the Kingaroy Showgrounds from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
It’s not a competition, just an opportunity to display your pride and joy and a coffee van will be on site.
