Artist Sam Blanch has seven beautifully detailed acrylic paint pen pictures of horses on display in the second gallery at this month’s Kingaroy Art Gallery exhibition … and one has already been sold

A large crowd turned out to the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery on Saturday afternoon for the official opening of its August exhibitions.

This month the gallery is hosting three displays: “Wild and Whimsical” by members of the Left Of Centre art group; “Scenes From Life” by Maureen Meggitt-Lorne; and “Horse Drawn” by Sam Blanch.

“Wild and Whimsical” is a joint exhibition by artists Lois Vreeken, Suzy Flintham, Lois Hamilton, Ros Smith and Brenda Holding that ranges from quirky pottery through to striking works in oils and acrylics.

By contrast, respected artist Maureen Meggitt-Lorne’s solo exhibition is a retrospective of some of her portraiture works, which focus heavily on farmers and rural families.

Sam Blanch’s solo exhibition features seven highly stylised, meticulously drawn acrylic paint pen images of horses.

Many of the works on show were sporting “sold” stickers by the mid-point of the official opening, and gallery curator Fran van Vegchel said she was delighted with both attendance numbers and the crowd’s response.

The latest exhibition also marks the return of the gallery’s monthly exhibition schedule after a two-month hiatus for the Winter Craft Festival during June and July.

The latest exhibitions will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 9:00am to 1:00pm on weekends, until August 31.

Artist Lois Vreeken’s large oil painting, “Pollen Time”, was quickly snapped up by an eager collector
Artist (and gallery volunteer) Ros Smith with two of her oil abstracts, “Roaring Lion” and “Whispering Tiger”
