Ergon Energy is offering apprenticeship opportunities in the South Burnett

July 5, 2023

Applications have now opened for apprenticeships with Ergon Energy, with more than 100 roles on offer.

In the local area, Ergon is recruiting for apprentices at Kingaroy, Yarraman and Kilkivan but there are locations right across the State.

Energex is also offering 78 roles at depots in south-east Queensland.

“These are widely regarded as the best electricity industry trade opportunities in the country, and we’re already getting a huge response,” Acting Area Manager Luke Navarro said.

“We offer world-class training, the chance to build great career paths, and that sense of making a really important contribution to our communities.

“Something that sets our apprenticeships apart is the chance for Queenslanders to pursue great training and work in rural and regional communities – these roles represent exceptional opportunities, especially in some of our smaller towns.”

Ergon and Energex are offering apprenticeships starting in early 2024 across seven trade disciplines: Distribution Linesperson, Electrotechnology Electrician, Communication Technician, Transmission Linesperson, Mechanical Fitter, Boilermaker and Plant Operator.

Eligible candidates should be:

  • Aged at least 17 at the time of the apprenticeship starting (ie. by February 14, 2024). There’s no upper age limit
  • Be a permanent resident or hold a subclass 866 or 200 visa
  • Complete Year 12, if they’re currently in their final year of school

Details about all roles, locations and the application process are on the Energex and Ergon Energy websites.

Applications close on Monday, July 17.
