Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has welcomed almost $2.1 million in Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program funding for local sporting organisations across the South Burnett and Cherbourg.

The State Government’s $30 million Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program supports eligible sporting organisations and local governments to develop and upgrade facilities.

Mrs Frecklington said the investment in our region would deliver significant upgrades to community sporting facilities, helping local clubs grow participation and create a lasting legacy.

“I am thrilled to see our local clubs and groups benefiting from this funding,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“These projects will deliver real benefits to our communities, providing improved facilities for current players and creating opportunities for more people to get involved in sport and recreation.”

Successful local projects include:

  • Kingaroy Netball Association – $498,146 to upgrade courts and support the continued growth of netball in Kingaroy
  • Kingaroy Touch Association – $456,859 to upgrade lighting, creating a quality multi-sport facility and increasing participation opportunities
  • Nanango Sporting Association – $351,046 to replace its clubhouse and support soccer and community activities in Nanango
  • Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council – $756,880 to construct practice nets, a cricket wicket and grandstands, along with fencing upgrades to support cricket and Australian Rules football in Cherbourg
