Two badly injured women had to be cut free from their wrecked vehicle in a lengthy operation at Brooklands in the early hours of Friday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle crash on Nanango-Brooklands Road, near the Fairbrother Road intersection, about 12:20am.
Upon arrival, they found a Holden Cruze on its side with the two women trapped inside.
It is believed to have struck a tree before rolling.
Five fire crews, supervised by a senior officer, went into action, stabilising the vehicle to stop it rolling further before using hydraulic cutting gear to access the trapped occupants.
A QFD spokesperson said the vehicle’s roof was removed about 1:10am, allowing paramedics to assist the women.
The two women, aged in their 20s, suffered head and chest injuries and were airlifted to Brisbane hospitals in a serious condition.
One was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital while the other was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The crash site was finally cleared about 5:00am.
