RACQ LifeFlight Rescue received an unexpected boost when a $10,000 cheque was handed over in Kingaroy on Thursday morning.

Kingaroy residents Leanne and Barry Krosch had told the LifeFlight Foundation they would be donating $5000 to the charity which supports LifeFlight flights.

But when the Foundation’s philanthropy relationship manager Karen McIntyre turned up, she was stunned to see the cheque was double the amount she had expected.

Barry told southburnett.com.au the couple had decided to increase the donation because of the number of helicopter flights they had been hearing lately coming in and out of Kingaroy Hospital.

In 2021, the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter flew a total of 551 missions, many of them into the South Burnett.

The Toowoomba-based chopper, which also services the South Burnett, flew 693 missions.

Karen said the South Burnett region was one of the busiest for RACQ LifeFlight.
